It's the lineup from when I first saw them 10 years ago, on their first European tour (I was at the show that ended up on the 7" on Shake Your Ass records)
Curious to see if they play more tracks from the first albums, even though I doubt they will.

thats saweet man! mia stranger juvenile and ghetto cross would be rlly sweet  8)

I had a feeling when I saw that this was a 6 pager in less than a week's time that it was gonna be going in this direction. I have a lot of respect and admiration for you MachoMan. I guessed that you'd probably respond in some fashion in this thread and I think that speaks to your character. From the interviews/features I've read recently, you are straight up and genuine with nothing to hide. You've been playing in bands for years (which I'm not going to pretend i know much about), kept it real on Termbo, so I imagine this attention is something totally new and you're dealing with whatever comes with that with little experience or pretense. I would say not a lot of 'bos can say they've been in your particular situation. This thread vaguely reminds me a bit of the yesteryear dissonance handed on here to Hondo Swilley after the Lips signed to Vice, but it seems like most of y'all are more respectful nowadays. Getting into a 'bigger' band first like BLips really helped me to discover more undergroundy/garagey/punk bands and appreciate diy shows so if that's happening with PC I personally find that pretty awesome. Most importantly it's about the music rocking theres far too much out there for people to pose based on 'i heard they were cool', at least i'd think so

To go back to a point K. made first I believe - I don't quite understand how people are finding out about music these days either. Here in Boston [and maybe it is like this for other smaller-than-new-york places], there are committed underground denizens going to house shows/smallish local shows all the time but I wonder about the hundreds that make it out to the bigger gigs that would no doubt appreciate lesser known bands playing those smaller shows. Firstly, I wonder how they came across that band and secondly I don't know. I was one of those hundreds, I'm glad that has changed but I'd like to think that now more than before those people are realizing what fun it is to be a part of the other side. anyone know what i'm talking about 8)

think about it, i figure most of you weren't pre pubescents when these came out - probably been through a lot of shit in the meanwhile. at the end of the day, do you still have your worn first pressings of let it bloom or any of the singles - do you find yourself frequently spinning these before heading into the office or lounging around in your summer home while the wife and kids are the beach?

Black Lips / Re: UNDERNEATH THE RAINBOW
« on: February 28, 2014, 03:04:23 AM »
As a crazed as they come Black Lips fan, I'm not gonna beat around the bush here. Not sure if this follows but their slimiest stuff was without a producer. Seems like they had never ending ideas and what they did was tremendously exciting, never got old, etc. I'd say Arabia is a great great LP - definitely 'catchier' than 200 million - so of course I am excited to hear this new album. I wonder if they could make another batch of Let It Bloom sounding tracks in the year 2014. They could get away with it, I think. If anyone really loves Black Lips, they're gonna love their early stuff, too. If that's too 'lo-fi' for them, shit i dunno. That's where I think this new one caters towards the less rough/less wild <indie> crowd, peeps looking for some ole clean garage punk to let loose. But man, I'd like to think they got more Stranger / Boomerang fun than slick black keyed Boys in Wood
