Who's up for a game of split 12"'s? They've got to suck right?
The Easybeats' best period is up to when they left Australia for the UK. There's some great album tracks but if you're just getting one record then the first singles compilation is the one, it's not too hard to find or expensive:

Otherwise as others have said Volume 3 is probably the best of their LPs proper, Goin' Out Of My Mind is maybe my favourite album track.
I'm also a big fan of the UK phase, but again as a singles band. Vigil is ok but for a few clunkers (I'm not a fan of Good Times) and The Shame Just Drained comp (released in the mid-70s) has some good stuff which didn't come out at the time. The US Friday On My Mind LP bridges the later Aussie and early UK recordings. I'd go for the second aussie singles comp for an overview, this one is hard to find though:

Lots of great tracks from this era and yes, different mixes in different countries; it's a bit of a rabbit hole. What In The World, Come In You'll Get Pneumonia, Hello How Are You, Peculiar Hole In The Sky... brilliant stuff.
At the end they disowned the flowery psych stuff and went back to proto hard rock. The Friends album has some moments - I like St Louis and Can't Find Love, but they sound a little world weary.
Absolute Anthology is a good recommendation, it has a good booklet which tells the whole story. From memory a couple of tracks are faded early to fit so many songs on, typical Raven corner cutting...
Next releases are: Brett Smiley, Lost Kids and Liverpool Echo.
