I didn't see this until now so maybe you already took care of this but yeah - go through eBay's request a return process. If you go to your purchases, the drop down menu for the item on the right side has a "return this item" choice. Go from there.
Or if the seller has already agreed to the return make sure the messages back and forth between you and the seller are in your messages so you have a record of what they've agreed to. Also, it's worth it on a more costly item to just check in with ebay over the phone before you return the item so they have a look at things and you can make sure you're handling it correctly.
Finally ship whatever it is back with insurance and sig delivery/tracking. I think technically if you go through eBay's return process the seller should pay return shipping although the few times I've had to do this I just went ahead and paid the return shipping since the whole thing was a bummer to the seller as well as myself.
