our djs were actually allowed to swear (or told they were by the executive staff, anyway) until just about a year or two ago, when they said it would only be admissible within the context of a song or band.
people like russ or erick probably remember those days.

we have to determine the difference between indecent and obscene material, indecent being those things that can be played within safe harbor with discretion. obscene things, like graphically describing fucking or shitting like SSR said, can never be aired.

i don't know about other stations or in detail about the FCC, but this is how we roll. for now, anyway.
