i wondered if there would be a tribute like there is for james brown and was for peter boyd. he was 45, and apparently pretty broke, living in some shithole in po-dunk florida. i've been reading all over how vince basically threw him away like garbage when he figured he couldn't make any more $ off him. RIP beast from the east. his feud with taz in ecw was pretty brutal.

BIRDFLESH is my favorite metal band, maybe my favorite band period at the moment. amazing grind without the sexism and homophobia, they're actually intelligent and funny-
"i am satans child
on a goat i ride
i deserve to die so kill me!
crosses i invert
jesus for dessert
causing christians hurt
i love it!"
lately i've been listening to anaal nathrakh, 7000 dying rats, circle takes the square, botch, burnt by the sun (who i never get tired of), dystopia, face down in shit, genghis tron, \m/GOATWHORE\m/, and i've re-discovered how funny macabre are. here in chicago there's a band called MAGGOTTWAT who are completely awesome. mathy-grind, great musicians, hysterical songs, and they're shows are a fucking blast. first time i saw them they lip-synced one of their own shows, but not like brittany spears bullshit. they just did it for fun, and mimiced their entire last show, including farting on stage, ans bantering with their friends between songs. it was one of the most entertaining shows i'd ever seen.

when i was a teenager a bunch of the thugs i used to hang with got "FUCK LIFE, FEAR LOVE" tattoo'd across their knuckles. i was pretty much the only one who wouldn't do it, fucking thank god. i have a couple tattoo's, all custom and personal, never got more cuz i just didn't care that much.

no one has the circle jerks skank dude? or the 2 tone skank dude? seems i used to know a ton of people who had one of those, if not both, in addition to bars. the crass symbol seemed popular for a while too.

Music Shit / Re: Rockabilly
« on: January 04, 2007, 09:17:22 AM »
i'm jumping into this thread about a year late, i've been a rockabilly enthusiast (traditional, neo, psychobilly) for many years now. it's very similar to the punk/garage/rocknroll scenes in theres literally a million and fifty fucking bands, and you do have to sift through piles of generic, fashionable bullshit, but if you do you will find gems. i've only seen a couple rockabilly bands mentioned in this thread, if anyone cares i'll be happy rattle off some bands worth checking out. mind you, the "billy" sound appeals to me, so even the generic redundant bullshit will probably appeal to me more than to people who aren't that into it.

as far as techno, i'm all about the minimal, especially detroit style. no band has ever or will ever make me lose my shit on a dance floor like hawtin or adam x.

that was a great show, retainers and terrible two's killed it. the curtains were on top of shit as always. and they stuck around for the whole show, totally supported every other band that played-very cool. that YOUTHs 7" is outstanding, as are the dry-rot and social cirkle 7"'s, i can't wait for that show friday.

at midnight i was in rogers park, with someone i've known since i was 7 years old, listening to king diamond. i seriously need to get the fuck out of chicago already. this city will fucking eat your soul if you don't escape in time.

a rockwell 45 with obscene phone caller/somebody's watching me was probably the first music by a black artist i ever owned. the first i actually spent my own money on was either ice t-iceberg, the black sheep's first tape, or eazy-e - eazy duz it.
