Incredibly Strange Films.  Long live Cash Flagg.

if ya dig that you should find a copy of Sleazoid Express by Bill Landis.
I second that, an amazing book on the 42nd street grindhouses and vintage exploitation cinema in general. The chapter on audience reactions to racesploitation films like Mandingo, Goodbye Uncle Tom and Fight For Your Life is a compelling read.

Just finished Sleazoid Express. Liked it a lot, especially how Landis described the scene on the Deuce- are there any similar books?

The Sleaze Merchants covers some similar ground. There's abook called Grindhouse that covers some earlier years and bleeds into the 70s. If you really want to just read about NYC sleaze in general read Friedman's Tales of Times Square. And the Andy Milligan bio The Ghastly One covers this time period as well, great read.

Thanks! Tales of Times Square and The Gastly One are exactly what I was looking for.

I second that. "The Grim Reaper" is also a classic.

Been asked by swedish Vice to do short articles bout Spider and Pierced Arrows. But I didnt wanna do it for a number reasons. The payment was next to nothin and I,m not interested in getting my name "out there" for no money. Aint no fucking opportunist. Also, Vice Headquarters demands that all foreign versions of the magazine is written in english, wich is idiotic to say the least. But I guess its part of their vibe or somethin. And my written english aint very good so I dont wanna do something in a language I aint feel 100% confident in.

I wrote 3 articles for Vice. Before they could get published the headquarters decided that everything had to be written in English. I didn't get paid for the work I had done. They made the offer that I should write on their homepage but I declined...still pisses me off.

So what did you think of INSIDE?

I was chainsmoking through the whole movie and now that it's over I really need a beer...After reading about it for the first time I avoided reviews so I knew nothing about that movie- really impressed how fucked up and dark it was-you can't compare this to bullshit like saw or other recent "torture- porn" movies- no Hollywood, fucking great, loved the ending. There were some minor things that I didn't like and some more time for building up tension at the begining would have been good, but overal it was great and really intense.(Not just because of all the gore scenes)
I expected to be scared shitless by that scissor woman, but her performance was so good that I just enjoyed watching that crazy bitch....Any other recommendations for french horrormovies?

I also watched The bloodstained butterfly by Duccio Tessari:

More a courtroom drama/ Krimi than a giallo with a very interesting use of flashbacks. The Italian DVD which has no scenes missing but also no English subs took me 3 hours to watch because I had to use my dictionary very often, but it was worth every minute- one of the more intelligent movies from that genre.
