you don't ever buy records off the wall ?

my first bad brains LP was 40  bucks.   gold vinyl.

or what about first printings ?  you don't try to go after those ?

i got a joy division single for boo koo bucks.   totally worth it.

that being said,  i also don't have a problem considering the resale.   though i'de never sell those two in particular.

Liking this one. It just kind of resonates, you know?

Seems like the kind of guy I'd end up talking to for three hours at a bar about semiotics and Wire, borrowing a pen from the bartender so I could scribble down the name of an Alfred Jarry play on my hand.

PERE UBU ! !

yeah that shit is super uppity.   for north loop thats sayin somethin.   yeah lalas on burnet is the lady who's husband left her on xmas back in the 60's.   she keeps the joint dressed up hoping for his eventual return.   sad.
its good to "not be into bars".
can't believe we've ever met.   though i usually hit trailer space for shows.   prob know some similar folks.
i'de say hello sometime, but not sure what you look like.   also, my band is playing in july.  Old Flesh.  prob at US art authority.  easy to book there.
+ cherrywood coffee house.   whatever.   what band are you in ?

sunshine you should check out Charlie's.

while in the hood mozie on down to the cloak room,  a below street level dive right by the capitol.

little joints are popping up in neighborhoods all over.    on north loop there is a cool new cocktail place that is dark and cozy. forget the name.  not parlor, but right down the way.

i went to DiveBar across from dog and duck the other day. could become cool, but boring right now.
spider house has been nice lately, hanging out in the courtyard after bar hopping on east side.

agreed on all those other shitty places.  but you just listed shitty places.   longbranch and scoot inn and both fun whatever.
other wierd joints are Lala's and jenny's little longhorn.  dale watson on thursday nights is a blast.   haven't been to burger night yet,
but i wanna.  especially if there are heads there pouring acid in peoples eyeballs.

crowbar is okay if you are down south.  shit i can think of a million that aren't your usual go to places on the east side.  that shit gets played out.

is anybody going to lower dens ?  on friday ?    i'm rolling in after band practice.     i think at emos.

keep up the recommendations for bars if y'all think of anything cool.

this is a pretty good list.

i do all of the above.  though there are some better options for bars.

austin provides one the ability to have minor adventures daily.   just ride the bus around or something.   walk around with your headphones on.
in this city, you almost always will fall into something to do.     didnt know about guitar wolf.   not sure i would need to see them again.
but chaos in tejas is upon us now, so there are some decent bands for that.   pinballz was indeed fun.  just went the other day.
sneaking into barton springs at night is really fun after the bars.    as steve earle said,  the dope is too cheap, and the women are too fine.  you can't get anything done.

i also get everything for free.  you would expect so after living here for over ten years.

I could never get into peste noire.

I just watched Until the Light takes Us and thought it was goofy. that artist and all of his paintings were awful.

Whats new putos?

part  of the thing about enjoying black metal is that,  IT IS GOOFY.   even the ones who take it too seriously.   i can laugh at it, but still love it, cause of such unique sound and vision.    peste noire is the band that  changed everything for me.  i had been at a distance, and they brought me completely into appreciating more bands.   but i think they are a high water mark, to which i compare everything else.  and alot of it sucks.  goofy or not.

just finished the keith richards autobiography.   its epic.  maybe a little tedious by the end of it though.  he really gets into being a geezer.   but remarkable in the fact of how he discovers open tunings on guitar and his affinity for "weaving" guitar lines with another guitarist.

i love all the borges books.   been a favorite for a long time.   i'de love to see a movie adaptation.   kubric could have been a candidate.  i do appreciate his taking "artistic license" with some of the other stories he adapted.   but alas, he's dead.   maybe michael haneke the austrian director could do one of the stories justice.  he made funny games among others.   his latest is really great - the white ribbon.   its maybe one of the closest i've seen of cinema functioning as literature.  not even sure if its based on a book, but watching the movie is pretty amazing.    whoever made amores perros seems like another good pairing with borges.
