Non-Music Shit / Re: Ridiculous statements made to you or overheard

My friend's at a record show. Wearing a Misfits shirt.

Creepy older guy goes up to him & says...

"Misfits? Pink vinyl Legacy Of Brutality? I got two of 'em."

and that's why I never wear a band t-shirt to a record show

No so crazy -- this used to top $300 all the time, but first time I've seen it reach this level in years:

I've seen at lest 2 of these within the last year in the deep Chicago suburbs thrift stores. I should have brought them.

Silence of the Lambs, would that count? I never laughed so much at a serious movie

Best solution to stop the records sliding out the back.

Non-Music Shit / Re: Ebay; When To Give Negative Feedback?
« on: August 10, 2012, 11:49:29 AM »
eBay is not worth the fuckery now. every record I was buy was over graded, package poorly for mailing. All I was leaving was negative feedback.

I've had it with the buying and selling. Nothing is that rare that over time I've not found it in the wild, brought it from somebody i knew or as a last resort , discogs.

eBay is not collecting too me. After 30 years it's the thrill of the hunt. I know if I hold out I'll find it, and see it before I buy it. Chance are I'll get it cheaper

Music Shit / Re: America's Dumbest Record Store
« on: August 04, 2012, 08:59:12 PM »
I've been to a lot of  shitty record stores (including the two in Ashland that denkinger referred to).  One of the worst record stores I've ever been to was outside Chicago. I am pretty sure it was east of Chicago and not in Evanston, which rules out that shithole Vintage Vinyl. This place was in a smallish town, near some railroad tracks. Two big rooms of vinyl with bins packed so tight that you couldnt pull one record without four coming up. Everything was beat and, though this was the mid 90s, prices were stupid high by today's standards. Anyone know this place?

Anybody ever been to Hip Cat Records in Prospect Heights? The hairpiece on the dude behind the counter is worth a visit even if the records aren't so hot.

Not worth the trip

Still can't believe somebody didn't reissue (or boot) Fang. I really want Land Shark. The only times I've seen it, it's in shit shape and overpriced.
