That should be a pretty entertaining game.  Canucks will probably win, and you'll get to see MAX DOMI

I'm going to a Canucks game I  a week and a bit. Not a hockey fan, and only a casual sports fan in general, but looking forward to it. I realized I've never seen a live hockey game. Tickets cost 1/2 of why they did last year, I suppose because the 'nucks suck? Gotta figure a way to get some booze in there.

What game? I bet you'll love it! Hopefully they actually win, which they haven't been doing much of lately. They'll search through bags and give a brief pat down on the way in. Don't think any liquids are allowed inside though, even if sealed.

Do they allow in and outs at Canucks games?  They used to at the Bell Centre, but ever since that fucking Ottawa shooting last year, they've used it as an excuse to get airport level security on everyone's ass and don't allow any in and outs anymore (meaning if you wanna smoke during the intermissions, or sneak a quick beer at the gas station across the street, you're SOL).  The level of paranoia brought on by ONE person dying in a complete freak act of neo-terrorism is fucking assinine.  I don't know what anyone stands to gain from this no re-entry policy on this level of extreme degree,  or how much more secure anyone feels having to wait 10 needless minutes more to get into the building at the beginning of the game, but I hope it makes someone sleep well at night.

Johnny Hockey is very quickly becoming my favourite player
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oxmE4IZQt0

Johnny Gaudreau is a really special player, and is such a killing machine during 3-on-3, I went to some game against the Boston Bigots and when he got on the ice in OT the whole arena (both teams included) knew what was inevitable.

I hope the Flames give him whatever the fuck he wants for as long as possible.

I absolutely love watching this kid skate.  I saw him do a complete double 720 spin o rama trying to get around a guy a few weeks ago, just to get an impossible angle shot on net.  He didn't score, of course, but you rarely see anyone even try to attempt the kind of shit this guy is able to pull off so effortlessly.  It seems like this guy shows up on SportsCenter almost every night of the week, just for pulling off some nifty deke or insane pivot moves around 3-4 different guys. He's like Subban when he first came into the league.

Also, anyone who officially tries to copyright his own nickname is GOLD

Also how's Paul Byron doing? I see he's actually scored a few goals. Last season he had hands of stone!

For the most part, he's been good.  His speed fits in well with the style the Habs play.  3 short handed goals so far!  Apparently that YouTube clip of his 17 or so breakaways last season (where he missed every time) is what convinced the Habs to give him a chance.

Its kind of frightening how much the Habs offense blows without Brendan Gallagher.

No shit. Who knew he was the lynchpin to the whole thing. What's up with Subban too?

How fucking terrible are the Pens right now? Phil Kessel is a fucking loser.

Gallagher is like the living embodiment of the "gotta play a full 60 minutes / give it your 110%" hockey axiom.  Never seen the guy take a shift off, ever!  He's in many ways the heart & soul of the team.  Hard to believe he was a 5th round pick.  Subban is having a tough stretch, which sucks!  They really live and die on his ability to move the puck outta the zone.  But hard to fault the guy when the whole team is really dropping the ball. Markov's age is really catching up with him, and having him on the first paring when he's gased with Subban makes it that much tougher for PK to play those minutes day in and day out.  I guess it shouldn't be that surprising seeing them struggle this much when you have the best goalie on the planet and one of your key offensive players out of the lineup.... but its been really hard to watch them as of late.

I still love Kessel.  I think he's also suffering a bad situation in Pittsburgh.  I can't see both Malkin or Crosby together there in the long term.  There's a big chemistry problem in that locker room.

Is there anything he's put out since 2003 or so that is essential listening?

That sounds fair.

This is honestly one of his most enjoyable records.

Has anyone actually seen one of his major bands live (Headcoates, Casears, Buff Medways etc)?  They flew him out to Pop Montreal like 10-11 years ago to do (mostly) spoken word, then he performed about 20 minutes worth of music with his wife.  Not like it was boring or anything.  But I really wish I had gotten to see one of his bands!

The Headcoats - The Messerschmitt Pilot's Severed Hand LP

Is that the one with "Art or Arse?" on it?  I really like this record a lot!  Probably the punkest one of all the ones I've heard

"Beach Bums Must Die," "Heavens To Murgatroyd, Even! It's Thee Headcoats! (Already)" and "Headcoatitude" are my favourite albums by Thee Headcoats.  Can't go wrong with either of those.

The Pop Rivets "Fun In The UK" LP is worth getting.  One of his first (if not the first) bands... pretty different from the rest of his discography.

Thee Mighty Caesars stuff is probably the best stuff he ever did, though.  All of it is worth owning

and yeah, Styx sucks fucking shit!

I think this is the longest I've carried on any discussion about U2 in my life.  Kill me now, please

U2's first single came out the same year as The Wall.  Not sure if "ripping off Floyd" holds up.

Yeah, but there's a difference between the early U2 stuff and the type of super processed rack-a-mount guitar layering stuff they were doing by the mid-80s

The Edge just took Keith Levene's style and watered it down

I have no opinion on U2 besides that

Would think he'd have to have been trying to rip off Floyd probably more than anything else.  "The Wall" basically sounds like proto-U2
