Music Shit / We Went And Recorded It Anyway
« on: March 18, 2009, 05:50:00 AM »

Apparently, this is the 'best of pop-punk and power pop, 1977 - 1984.'  Seems pretty fucking random and confusing - Cadillac Kidz and Benedict Arnold & The Traitors?

Music Shit / Jeffery Lee Pierce/Red Lights/E-Types/Last 'Look Again'
« on: March 15, 2009, 07:40:46 AM »
Does anybody know if this stuff exists in any actual acquirable form?  I know a late BOMP! mentioned getting a tape from Jeffrey Lee & the E-Types labeled 'Blues For The Pepsi Generation' which they described as a...

'garage sound approximating the John Cale sound circa Slow Dazzle/Guts mixed with a smidgen of Springsteen drama and Lou Reed vocal intonations in parts...an interesting sound, every present keyboards wit (sic) guitar/bass/drums and the E-Types seemed competent enough to take the club circuit route.

Just curious to know what it definitively sounds like, who was involved, how long was it between the E-Types, Red Lights and Creeping Ritual, etc.  Bleh.

And they must have gone the club circuit route too as I know the Last do 'Jungle Book,' which they credit to the Red Lights, on 'Look Again,' their unreleased second record.

Side-bar:  do all the test pressings of 'Look Again' sound as fucked and unlistenable as the CDR I have of it?

There, now you don't have to (try to) outbid the Japs or Chris Stigliano anymore.

Dig the story on the Clap - cops, drunks and Nehru jackets.  Also dig the review of their album as dreadful.

Music Shit / future hozac star - KING J

Seriously, this is party escalating madness.

'A must have CD, plus bass bumping total sounds. Buy a masterpiece of history.'

I recommend 'Getting Paid' and 'Streetz' as well as possibly the best Chicago theme song since 'Roundball Rock,' 'Straight Out Of Chicago.'

Non-Music Shit / snacks at shows
« on: March 02, 2009, 09:30:22 AM »

Yes, I know this notion carries all kinds of crusty, lumpen left, hare-krishna-esque connotations, but, man, nice spread of snacking at two shows this week really has me questioning if I should in future squander my time at performances that I know offer no emotional or edible repast.  Fuck, I won a raffle on Saturday too.  Big time!

In summation, more shows should organize themselves on the model of church bingo or Catholic faits.  Thank You.

Music Shit / droogs?
« on: February 27, 2009, 05:06:26 PM »

What is there (is there any?) good stuff?  Please to note, if you suggest some fucking 80's album that was only ever released in France, you can drive over and catch a load in your eye.

Mark Shipper's a dude of discerning taste; didn't figure he'd get involved with a pack of raving lame-oids.

Everything I've heard though just sounds like bloodless, proto-gayrage revival.

Are these guys fags?
