Music Shit / Re: What is everybody listening to? Part II

Thundermug (This band sucks, but I like 'em)
Bubblegum MF comps (Classics and obscurities melting all over)
Suicide (First & second LPs)
Red Kross (Teen Babes LP)
Stack of bubblegum 45s & LPs of varying quality
Diodes (Self-titled LP)
Pylon ("Beep Beep" 45, which I've admittedly only kept on the off-chance that I end up spelunking some stupid art-punk idiotditch in the next annum; ideally would wake the next morning, tumble again, then pawn this garbage off on her in a weird tribal rite of passage, the meaning of which I don't/won't quite understand myself)(Barely kidding)

Lasty and not leasty: The Ramrods!  "I'm a Ramrod" and "Nothing to Do in Detroit" are right up there with "Get Stuffed" and whatever other 100% American/cheeseburger/cunt-in-car protopunk outfits that fit this sorta mold.  Righteous!

Dude, the Mug RULE HARD!  Retract your slander this instant, banga banga humpa humpa.

Seriously though, T.Mug kill.

And if you want to argue that this is not - in fact - the greatest punk single of all time, you are a cloth-eared goon.

Yeah, I've got a track by Rosie called 'Rosie's Coming To Town' from '73 that's pretty good.  If the rest of it's like this, I'd be very interested in hearing it.

'Remarkable early private press LP that manages to be a folk LP and a parody of a folk LP at the same time. Half of it is monster-fan piss-takes on standards such as "Tom Dooley", "Tip toe through the tulips", other half is Robbie originals of varying quality, hitting an unforgettable apex with the echo-laden Count Dracula track, which warns us to "...watch out for those vampires, some of them are QUEER". Also daring for the time marijuana and sex jokes, and a general bohemian counterculture feel to it all. Some of his in-between song jokes aren't all that funny, but the Santa Monica crowd had had enough red wine & weed to cheer and laugh at pretty much everything, creating a nice vibe. Unique artefact, made even more compelling by the fact that this guy later turned up in big time band Clear Light.'

Also, the best Bonnie St. Claire track - leaves 'Clap Your Hands' in the dust!

Music Shit / Re: The Rubinoos vs. Avril Lavigne
« on: July 08, 2007, 05:10:52 AM »

Whether she has a legitimate case or not, I know the Rub's original is being played, book-ended with Avril, on a lot of straight Top 40 stations around the country.  Court of public opinion, etc.

How much did Georgie Harrison have to pay the Chiffons (or their writers) for ripping off 'My Sweet Lord?'
8124

Correct.  It's basically a pre-Arrows group, everyone except for Allan Merrill I believe.  There's also a future Vibrator on bass too for those of you keeping score at home.  Too bad their second single's so lackluster.
8125
Oh wow, way to one-up my shitty generic copy, thanks!  I'll just doodle my own UNIQUE ONE OF A KIND picture sleeve and flog it for BIG BIG BUCKS on ebay.  THEN YOU'LL SEE WHO'S LAUGHIN'!!!!
8126
Did this ever come with a picture-sleeve?  All the one's I've seen are just the generic Deram label (including the one I've got).
