First real place to start on the totem pole, but an absolute great table for the cost, if that makes sense. Good speed control, can do a decent amount of 'upgrades'/modifications without finding yourself in the weird position where you upgrade past the price/quality ratio like you would if you started with a $300 music hall

I just got absolutely dicked on a buy - guy said VG+/VG+, quoted it as excellent - bought it for a bit more than it'd normally go for and paid UK shipping. Gets here, POSSIBLY VG- (which isnt a thing in Goldmine) or a good G, which I would have never wanted, let alone paid int'l shipping for. Even with PayPal involved I still am out $21 to send the thing back, and he gets what, one negative review in discogs out of his 20? Doesn't he get to leave one for me too after that?

Snowtown Murders 9/10

This movie and its soundtrack rule. The brothers also did the recent Macbeth, which is haunting and beautiful and goddamn boring all at the same time.

One of the few mastering jobs I feel bad taking money for because it was so fun to listen to ... or did I get paid in beer? Hard to remember...

Listening to the Velvet Underground Complete Matrix Tapes. Must have missed this last year when it came out, love the sets and the quality but my favorite part is Lou's accent between songs.

Tape-Op is a free registration, so if you set up an account, here's a good read on the restoration of those tapes. http://tapeop.com/reviews/music/111/the-complete-matrix-tapes-by-the-velvet-undergroun/

Killer performances, and real good quality, especially for what they are.

The new Criterion streaming service is launching this fall, partnered with TCM ... http://filmstruck.com/

Hulu has a ton. Will it include a different selection?

So here's the few deets from an email I just got ...

There will be three FilmStruck subscription plans to choose from:
•   FilmStruck Monthly Subscription for $6.99 / month
•   FilmStruck + Criterion Channel Monthly Subscription for $10.99 / month
•   FilmStruck + Criterion Channel Annual Subscription for $99.00/ year

At the time of launch, FilmStruck will be available on Desktop, Android Handsets and Tablets, iPhones and iPad and Amazon Fire TV. Coming Soon: Apple TV 4th Generation, Chromecast and Roku.

...///

I don't know whether that means Criterion will be leaving Hulu, but Turner holds a minimal stake in Hulu so maybe they wont cannabalize themselves? Who knows, these companies have no idea how to do anything.

The audio/video streaming quality is what I'm concerned with, Criterion b/w films always looked like shit streaming through the Hulu app on various systems I tried.

Music Shit / Re: Your Theme Music
« on: September 23, 2016, 05:08:23 PM »
I have had this reoccurring dumb idea a bunch of times over the years and my answer always changes but...

If you could have personal theme music that would play when you entered a room (kinda like a wrestler's theme music), what would you choose?

Today I'm gonna go with the Weirdos "Life of Crime"

This is funny just because the one default song my brain goes to no matter what the situation is "Destroy All Music"... Like, if I'm not listening to anything, or don't have something else stuck up there, I just hear "I WANNA KICK IN THE RADIO"

I don't know how healthy that is, considering I'm mostly entering a pizza place, elementary school or a liquor store...
