Went to the funeral yesterday. No mention of Jesus, plenty of the women in his life. Steve played "Dipstick" on an acoustic guitar then everyone went to the pub and got smashed. Great day.

Rich, did you get my email about that stuff and the CB thing?

Yeah I did, I'll email ya back tonight. Sorry, I've been a slack cunt with the non-ECSR emails.

Not that I've been buying many o/s releases, but the best new singles I've heard are by Eddy Current Suppression Ring, from Melbourne. Balls-out Saints/Wire/X/Kinks tuffness. They've got an album in the can - CD is out now (on Dropkick) LP in a couple of weeks. Best band from down here in 15 years, no shit. Both 45s are gone though...

I live in Melbourne, Australia. If you can swing a residency Visa and a one-way airfare I'll do it.

Hard-Ons and the Insane Hombres, Easts Rugby League Club, July 1989. A guy in a DK's Halloween shirt came outta the pit with blood dribbling down his eyebrow and threatened to bash the shit out of me for looking at him.

Fuck or Kill Tunes
"Fuck you God (I'm already Living in Hell)" ep is probably my favorite record of theirs.

Yeah, The "Loser Illusion Pt 0" 10" - I don't know if that was a wacky marketing double-up from SST but that's my favourite Trains reord. Five or six songs and they're all spot on.

The first few Surrealists LPs are essential - "Hit Me With The Surreal Feel", "Just Because You Can't See It...", "Essence" and "Sin Factory". Shit, all of them. In The Red licensed "Jus Because" so you should be able to pick it up reasonably cheaply/easily. He used to play solo shows a lot around this time, playing songs mainly from a demo tape "Hook Line & Singer" with a lotta the Surrealists stuff on it. Always amazing. Then he got the pop/electro bug and it all went skewiff.

I'd love to hear a whole LP of the 4 Instants, they're fucking manic. A total standout on that particular comp.

Jan Davis rips! I think I prefer "Watusi Zombie" though...

You NEVER see those kind of singles out here, only on eBay, which is why I haven't ever got around to buying 60s 45s, besides Stones & Beach Boys EPs. Though show me the Cherokes "Uprising" or Jan Davis on 45 and I'll give you $11. Fuck it, the "Jungle Exotica" LP looks better than any of 'em.

Nup. Had a look, but. Believe me I have a hard enough time paying $11 for a new 45 at the shops.

Missed all the replies here.... it was "Revhead" that did it to me too, Lastname. "Travis" I could cop but "Revhead" fucked me.

The guy who has that Scientists shit lives in Adelaide, he used to mix every band that came through town from 1978 to 82 or so, and run a quarter inch reel. He still has 'em all and when he started transferring the first bunch, the tape would be disintegrating as it went through the machine, but he got a good dub of 'em. Anyway blah blah, I'm not sure I can get it off him. I'll probably see him before the end of the year and if I can weasel a copy, sure!

This guy has been posting Australian clips from the vaults of ABC -- he must work there. There's a bunch of shit but great stuff worth digging out. It's all real high quality too.
