Music Shit / Re: Worst song ever

Ha, that song sucks.  Toy Dolls was bizarrely one of the most violent shows I've ever seen.  Gangs of skinheads killing each other to circus music.

Probably the wrong board, but whatever, it's more fun this way.  I never listened to these guys (oops), where are the choice nugs?  I became obsessed with the song "Reasons" and got the record it's on (That's the Way of the World), which has some other great stuff.

I'm with you.  I really like it but can only do a few songs at a time, which is fine.  I also wonder where else they could take this without ruining it.

My girlfriend said they had a huge rally when she was in Dresden a couple years ago -- as in thousands of them.  That's apparently the largest neo-Nazi rally in Europe.  I've never seen any Nazi shit in Germany.

Punk In Drublic is better than Ribbed? Really? 2 Heebs is better than Drublic.

Whoa bro.

Drublic was the last NOFX lp I bought and I sold it soon after. Is it seriously that popular?

It is very popular.  I think they did a tour where they played it start to finish.

It's no RIBBED, that's for sure.

Thread is great

Feature-length documentary on Sunny Murray I had never heard of

http://www.cultureunplugged.com/documentary/watch-online/play/8970/SUNNY-S-TIME-NOW

Many interesting people in this.  Francois Tusques, Bobby Few, Cecil Taylor, Sonny Simmons, Valerie Wilmer, Grachan Moncur III among others.

The answer is Blood Guts and Pussy.

I feel like this was SO important for people just a little bit older than me, but I totally missed out. Like, literally, I've never heard it (unless it was playing at a venue and I didn't know it). Not only that, but I feel like, as groundbreaking as it was in '90, it was passe by the time I got into punk ('94ish). Kind of wondering if I should go back and give it a shot but feeling like if I did it'd just feel dated.

Why not give it a listen?  It's a stone classic that crushes most of this stuff.

Oh, besides Mark Smith are there any original members in the band?

Good lord, no.

I hear they've been playing with two drummers again.. anyone seen that?

I remember when the demos/original mix of real new fall leaked, I couldn't believe how good it was.  For some reason though I got seriously burned out on those songs and never want to hear them.

The last one I loved was Imperial Wax Solvent.

That Re-Mit album, holy shit.  I could barely get through that.

I too have the same problem at work, so I usually just end up listening to Love or T.Rex or something. But here's two new finnish rock n roll records that might float your boat, or not?

This is really good, thank you sir

Music Shit / Re: Serge Gainsbourg

I will second Eazy E.  I like everything through the reggae albums, 1981 or so.  It's really hard to go wrong.  Here are a few favorites from his different "modes".  He also wrote shitloads of great songs for other people.  Maybe someone can recommend a collection of those.

I'd say these are essential:
1968: Bonnie and Clyde and Initials B.B.
1969: Jane Birkin - Serge Gainsbourg
1971: Histoire de Melody Nelson

Then..
1963: Confidentiel (I think this is the most solid LP from his early/jazzy period, though all have great songs.  This is a really stripped down trio record)
1973: Vu de l'exterieur (I love this one, a small amount of crap but the highs are really high)
1979: Aux armes et caetera (First reggae album, it rules)
