Music Shit / Re: Squirrel Bait

Agreed, please no reunion.

I always thought they opened for Husker at the Jockey Club in 84 not 85.  I had a tape of the Huskers 84 set there and it was a scorcher.  Hopefully more of this show was taped and eventually comes out.

Non-Music Shit / Re: scariest movie ever made?

Off topic but sorta related. My uncle told me when he was about 15 and the family were eating dinner and watching the TV, Nanna (his mother) had some dodgy VHS of one of those Italian cannibal movies. There was a scene where a naked woman is impaled on a stake and has mud (I think) shoved up her flue, my Nanna laughed and said "nice bit of sage and onion stuffing there". Everyone else kinda went off their meals. What a woman.

That rules.

I used to be good friends with this metal dude who never "turned it off" (you know the type).  We would wake up hungover at his apartment at 10 AM on a Saturday and he'd immediately pop in a VHS of some disgusting German splatter porn.  Fuck.

This is a great documentary.  I watched HOTEL TERMINUS and had to learn more about the lawyer who defended Klaus Barbie, he's a fascinating character.

I'm not really "scared" by horror movies but Martyrs is certainly up there - maybe Audition, maybe Snowtown.

I'm not into horror movies and haven't seen most of these, but I've always had fun making people watch Audition.  Definitely spring that on your girlfriend.

Moving Targets were not good.  Their singer had a butt cut and wore polo shirts.  Who cares if the drummer could play.  At least Squirrel Bait had some fire and some songs.

How can Rik be dead when we still have his poems?

My uncle is a combat ready Vietnam vet who loves getting stoned and discussing the many intricate merits of Little Feat.  That's like his favorite band.  I'm not a big fan or anything but I'm down.  I don't have much tolerance for lunkhead heavy southern rock which is his main bag.

I resisted SRV for a long time but eventually caved.

Like I said my parents have good taste.  My other relatives don't.  I'm from the country.

My parents have good taste.  As far as extended family a few things come to mind

Country.  If there's an "old country" radio station (meaning through the 1980s), that solves the problem.
Faces (already mentioned -- everybody likes this band)
Steely Dan and related
Dire Straits
SRV
Warren Zevon
ZZ Top
Little Feat/Lowell George

I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff

Robert Wyatt and Colin Newman would not fly!

I've been won over. It hits too many weak points. I concede.

This is a lot closer to The Streets or whatever than The Fall

I think we can do better
