Q1: did anyone pick up 2016 RSD vinyl of Nikki Sudden "Treasure Island"? When I'm in classic / classicist 'rock' mood I still enjoy Nikki a lot and find those last proper albums ("Treasure Island," "Fred Beethoven," "Truth Doesn't Matter") pretty great within the bounds he's working... I was surprised too to check out the album with Phil Schoenfelt, "Golden Vanity" and hear places where they were pushing an almost Kraut-rock groove... Anyway, I'm always semi-wary of Munster vinyl, curious if there are any Termbo field reports.
Had no idea about this - I love that album. I used to work in a computer lab and when Nikki was working on that album I started reading his daily posts to his website and he was so proud of that album and had a childlike excitement about every detail of it. I remember that there were a few delays in the release date (probably to align with the swell maps cd reissues) but I bought it the day it came out and while it wasn't groundbreaking by any means, it was great to finally hear something that I had been reading about for a few years. So sad that he passed away not too long after, I met him once at Bernie's bagels in columbus and he was such a sweet guy. Treasure island is one of those albums that makes me smile every time I hear it. "Stay Bruised"
