Well, I think pretty much they made a good EP, An amazing LP (Days of Wine..) and then didn't make anything worth listening to ever again (even though there are good songs on their 2nd LP, The Medicine Show).  They live on the reputation of Days of Wine...

I'm a big fan but it's kinda true... There was a radio show that came out on atavistic that was fantastic but was basically 1st ep and album.  Out of The Grey never grabbed me, but I love Ghost Stories which was their final album.

^your description of that makes it sound awesome, I plan to check it out but hold you personally responsible if I'm disappointed.

Currently listened to latest Hue Blanc "stoning Josephine" for third time in a row.

This is a great record. Best of theirs by far, and this from an all-time fan. I feel like this record had finally lover up to their potential, and I love it as much or even more than I've wanted to. In a way it's their most derivative record. That word "derivative" seems to carry some negative connotation but I don't mean it like that at all. It's like they've made a hue blanc record with just the right amount of classic, rock (not Classic Rock) conventions as to make their off-kilter, skewy hick/savant rock just accessible enough for an average or wannabe rocker to appreciate and swing the hips, while still being challenging in a way (to squares). I put hue blanc up there with a-frames and country teasers-- bands that have their unique thing, a constant theme almost, like you always know who they are. Their albums never seem like collections of songs, but like a continuous piece, which is something that I like and kinda matters to me. I guess it's ART, which is rare. Anyway, I don't know shit about dick, and never listen to new music unless someone else facilitates, but I feel like anyone who knows anything should devote some time to "stoning Josephine." This is a record pitchfuck and whatnot should be writing about.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Hue Blancs finally had a new album out (been a long time) - picked it up this week and listening now for the first time...

Fait Accompli and Arriere-Garde are CLASSICS - I've listened to them regularly since they came out.  Stoning Jospehine is a monster, definately worth the wait.  The thing that I love about HBJO is that they are effortlessly unique - the contrasts (between the singers' voices, the drummers, and the guitars) create so many interesting moments without sacrficing the quality of their songwriting.  These songs are solid.  All of their songs are solid.  No need for the "weird" album, or the "heavy" album, they just make great albums.

I was watching a video of that Savages band this morning and it all just seemed so contrived.  Some folks need to go on discogs and snag a copy of Arriere-Garde for $2(!!!!) and stop writing manifestos on tumblr.

there's also some kind of interesting full-band interviews on youtube that cover each Genesis album... I was surprised to see Peter Gabriel participating in them, I assumed that he would have been more of an asshole, but actually seems like a pretty cool person

I've been listening to all of those Genesis albums for the first time the last few months and have become kind of obsessed with them.
this clip of them doing The Musical Box is especially cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W35wtfcByIY
kind of like The Who, but seated

Haven't gotten to the solo albums yet but i'm heading there next.  I have a new appreciation for some of the more well-known radio hits now too.
