The Thing With Two Heads might be spinning records too. WOOHOO!

Wha-wha-WHAT???  That's mental!  The lineup is already sick enough--add the Thing With Two Heads and it becomes downright retarded.  Come to Reno and blow out our minds and eardrums!

I wasn't gonna let the cat outta the bag, so I'm glad someone else did.  Paid for mine less than 1/2 an hour after the email announcement arrived.  Cannot wait!

Obnoxiously early announcement for the Debauch-A-Reno Rock'n'Roll Party on September 6th at the Underground in Reno, NV.  The lineup includes:

Subsonics (ATL)
Head (Seattle)
Okmoniks (AZ, CA)
Th' Losin' Streaks (Sacto)
The Sess (SoCal)
Slab City (Imperial Valley)
Scurvy Bastards (Reno)
DJs Dahbeeb Brustafa and Johnny Ola

Anyone who came to the Stickerguy! 15 Year Anniversary Party knows what to expect--great bands, killer DJs, and drinking way past excess.  Don't be an asshole, make your plans to attend now.

Five bucks says the lead singer winds up in jail for a sex crime he didn't understand he was committing.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw Dragonfire play at the Stickerguy! Bash.  The slightly retarded singers called some girls onstage and it looked for a moment like someone was gonna get a'raped.

Are all the dudes in Heavy Load retarded or just the funny lookin' ones?

So, where did you go drinking, Josh?

Made it to the Round Corner after the show, but I was already pretty fucked up from pre-show Jack'n'Cokes so we had a drink and took off.  What a crowd at that place!  A few hipsters hanging out and a strong gang banger presence.  Exquisite linoleum floors and strange, too bright lighting.  Sunday we hit the record swap, Time Tested Books (where it was miserably hot inside), and El Abuelo.  Fuckers at El Abuelo tried to give us the English menu which has about 1/3 of the options that appear on the Spanish menu.  I was nearly denied the Nortena.  My girlfriend is from Mexico, got the "good" menu and I ordered off of that.  Good times in smoky Sacramento.  Thanks again for all the suggestions.

due to the Mayyors' enabling

Do those guys like to drink?  Ha!  John said they were bringing "as much beer as we can carry."

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm coming to Sac this weekend to see the Mayyors and attend the KDVS Record Swap.  I was wondering if any of you Sacramentans have suggestions for some good, affordable restaurants. I'm looking for Cuban, Ethiopian, Morrocan, Lebanese--ethnic restaurants that we don't have in Reno (which is most ethnicities). I saw Taste of Brazil online, but, damn, $35 a person is a little outta my price range.  How about places to drink?  I'll be staying at 25th and U so if there's anything cool around there let me know.  Any suggestions you have are appreciated.

Cheers,

Josh

I refuse to read the fish and chips one as I think it will make me barf.

You gotta read that one!  The agony the IHEM experiences trying to choke down the last order of fish and chips is excruciating and hilarious.  Passing out from gluttonous exhaustion with battered fish in your mouth--oof!  That's dedication to the cause...and 12 internet dorks.  One of my favorite blogs.

I quit three years ago when I got fed up with how much worse my hangovers were when I smoked.  Tapered off the number of cigarettes I had each day and started going for walks in the evening instead of firing up a smoke.
The American Lung Association has a free online program to help quit.  You spend a couple weeks preparing for quit day by analyzing your habit (what time of day you smoke, what emotions you're feeling when you smoke, what situations trigger the urge), deciding on alternative behaviors to smoking (wash hands, count to 10, jerk off), and making a plan to deal with trigger situations.  They advise starting a walking/exercise program in conjunction with the quit attempt.  A guy I work with smoked for 43 years, his mom giving him his first puff when he was 4, and he used the ALA Freedom From Smoking program and has been smoke free for 4 years.
I recently started smoking again 'cause my girlfriend smokes.

Thee absolute worst hangover of my life came after drinking a 12 pack of Weidemanns.  Felt like a sheet of metal surrounded my brain, contracting as it cooled, squeezing my frontal lobe mercilessly.

There were a pair of brothers at my high school who looked exactly like Beavis and Butthead.  They never tried to do impressions of B&B, and would get pissed off if you called them that.  The older brother stuttered and the younger one lisped, so they were a more retarded, gay version of the cartoon.

and in my case, being disallowed to watch B&B as punishment

Same here.  My folks wouldn't allow me and my siblings to watch B&B under any circumstances.  We'd have to change the channel when we heard them walking into the room.  What the hell were you doing watching Step by Step?

Future Termbo article:  RICHARD FUCKING ADVENTURE VS. THE BUNNY RANCH

You're mixing up your barnyard animals (if a "bunny" can be considered one)--The Bunny Ranch is just outside of Carson City in the appropriately named municipality of Mound House.  It would take Mr. Adventure 7 hours to arrive at this world famous amusement park for the genitals.  The Chicken Ranch, however, is about an hour away from Las Vegas near Pahrump (a-bump-bump!).  Getch'yo groove on, G!

Hey Rick!

It was great to meet you on Saturday night.  And, wow, I was oblivious to all the behind the scenes negotiations that took place just to allow the Mayyors to play.  Glad the fact that my girlfriend and I drove down from Reno to see the show was used as leverage for the betterment of the party!  You are an arbitrator without peer.

Jerome was an awesome frontman with a charming, Jonathan Richman-esque vibe.  I thought they sounded ok, but could tell the issues with the vocals/sound were distracting them a bit.  Still, a solid, fun set.

I wasn't prepared for the insanity of the Mayyors.  Everyone went bananas--band, crowd, DJ Rick perched high above the action.  They sounded just incredible, far better live than on record, viscera-shakingly loud.  Makes me slobber with anticipation for the next 7".  Like you pointed out, the fact that this all took place in the living room of an unassuming house in a quiet, prime residential neighborhood makes it all the sweeter.  And the band was handing out beers before the set!  I'm still trying to wrap my head around how fucking stellar that show was.

Again, very nice meeting you, Rick, and thanks for the offer to help find crashspace should I come down for future shows.
