I guess I need to make myself more clear...

I do not "discern" good vs. bad based on the superficial term "punk."  Hell, I probably spend more time listening to stuff termed "space" or "Kraut" or "psych" anyway... and "prog", yes...  I don't even know if you were talking to me, whoever you are....

The Replacements are one of those bands that I feel little about, really. Some girls I hung out with in high school liked them. They are okay, I guess, just some rock band who played songs, yet some people cum in their pants every time they hear them. They don't even get me hard, which is saying a lot, because sometimes just a certain pair of underwear will get me hard.

Husky Dudes, what can I say? More of the same. Some okay sorta band that people like. I've had Zen Arcade and Nude Gays Risnig (I happen to like my drunken sniglet from last night) lying around somewhere for decades (on cassette!). It all sounds like a bunch of nothing to me.  I don't know why I mentioned that "Girl Who Lives on Heavenly Lane" song, but it must have been the catchiest one of the bunch. It's still lame, though.

The Descendents were brought up by Orifice Bwadx. He always brings them up. What a jerk. That band is one of the generic litmus tests of "punk."  Fuck them. They just remind me of hanging out with skateboarder friends in high school and they'd play "Milo Goes to Old Country Buffet" or whatever. There would be a smell of sweaty socks in the air, acne draining from faces and we'd be doing something stupid like inhaling leather protector from plastic bags. I'd wanna put on something actually INTERESTING to listen to, and if I got my way, my douchebag friends would just give me blank stares. I don't even keep in contact with those guys anymore. Maybe some of them are dead now. Good riddance. "Milo Goes to the Morgue."

Menards Guy is punk. He probably fucked your grandmaw in the ass and sploodged on her neck.

I'm gonna go listen to my main man Stan Hubbs' LP for the zillionth time, you schmucks...

Punk sucks.

The Replacements are lame. I remember a few years back, somebody at a party put on one of their early "punk" records and it was so lame I left the party.

Husker Du blow. Only song I ever liked was that "Girl Who Lived on Heaven Hill" number from Nude Gays Risnig.

The Suburbs rule! First EP and compilation tracks are dope, as is the first 2 LPs. Like a funny Midwestern Roxy Music at times...

Suicide Commandos are DA BOMB. Real rock'n'roll. FUCK!

NNB are totally fucking good. Limited recordings available to the public.  Pere Ubu and Television vibes. Awesome.

Obviously the whole Cows/Halo of Flies/AmRep bit is pretty cool, man...

So, that's my assessment of Minneapolis rock music. Everything you say against it is wrong.

When Walt was rolling that barrel of $$$ through the desert, I was hoping to hear the "Beer Barrel Polka", but  that Limeliters song worked, too. Also noticed he rolled past what looked to be his pants from the first episode. It's all about the pants. I fully expect Walt to be in a pair of tighty-whities out in the desert for the final episode...

Shit really hit the fan, no surprise, but it ended up being more intense and gut-wrenching than I expected. Very good.

The Lions went 4-0 in pre-season the year they went 0-16 in the regular season.

Pre-season is dung. Means absolutely nothing.

It must suck to be a Browns fan. I'm pulling for you, actually.

I want the Packers to intercept Colon Krapperneck 6 times and for Clay Matthews to chew on one of his biceps like it was beef jerky, but I'm afraid I'm living in a dream world.

Make that dream a reality. GO PACK!

Alice Cooper takes one for the team. A pie in the face. During an early workout of  "Black Juju." Same fucking festival as Iggy/Stooges walk on crowd peanut butter thang. I would imagine this festival was the birthplace of punk, and both these gents did a great job at spreading the legs and yanking that noggin out of the vagina of rock'n'roll. Stooges look triumphant, Alice looks trumped, but, my how things changed... Top form, both, and everybody got their shit from then on. Pie in the face. Walking on the crowd. Wearing chicks' clothes. Spreading peanut butter. Writing great fucking songs. Such is the real birth of punk. Oh, and objects flung from the audience. Can't forget that...

The Jesus Lizard. Looks like yer typical Jesus Lizard show until Yow takes one on the noggin around the 50 second mark. The bottle broke on his head. He was always a trooper, though. A concussion would be a "whatever", I'm sure...  They were kinda the Stooges of the 90's in many ways...

Aussie rockers the Angels get nailed repeatedly by drunken countrymen and their bottles on New Years Eve. Seems to be more out of excitement than anything...

Music Shit / Re: Tom Smith Rearranges Talibam!'s Puff Up the Volume

I usually like stuff that Tom Smith puts his fingers on. Not into what Whet Bull has posted of this Talibam outfit thus far, but perhaps I'll listen to this. Generally more of a fan of Smith's own projects (TLASILA, Peach of Immortality, Ohne, Miss High Heel, Rope Cosmetology, etc...), but he's got a good, whacked ear for mixing and shit, so...

Erick, I get it.

My new dream is to perform on a record that ends up sold at Trader Joe's liquor store annexes across the nation. I love the idea of someone I've never met shotgunning a simpler times while staring at my picture and listening to my mellifluous voice.

YES!

I really enjoy sitting in an easy chair, and staring at a wall. Which "scene" should I join?

Is cold-wave more popular in cold climates or hot climates?
