Cities / Melbourne and/or Adelaide

Taking my wife and kid to Australia. Will be in Adelaide and Melbourne visiting family, but I'll be able to do my own exploring when necessary.

Will be there April 6-April 20.

If there's something cool happening at a particular time, I'm flexible on which city I'll be in on which days.

Would love to catch a few shows, and hit record shops and bars. Cool historical/nature stuff is great, as well as shit to avoid.

Going to be doing something like 20 minutes of stand up in the near future.

Anybody try this before? I've done improv, but that shit is wack, and is pretty much the lowest form of comedy.

Ideas for material? I'm leaning towards Def Comedy Jam style "Chinese people drive a car like this" type shit.

I should get me a sweet Cross Colors 8 ball jacket and flattop haircut.

Alright, so Anthony Bourdain came to town a few months ago. His production people snatched up a friend of mine to translate for him. It's kind of funny how they managed to make one of the largest cities in China look like a shitty, desolate wasteland. Still, very interesting. Non-Music Shit / Apartment Drums?

Got a new cheap as fuck drum set today.
I'm trying to swing having band practice in my apt. complex. Rehearsal rooms do not exist here, nor do basements or secluded areas.
I got the pads and stuff to keep the drums quiet, but thought I might see if anyone's got other ideas on how to make this drum shit work.

Ok. I swear this is true -- I have a friend (Geoff) who claims he has TWO separate, unrelated friends who were riding alone in elevators with Bill Murray, when he looked at them, gave them a hug, then said "No one will ever believe you." Is this what happened to your brother? I love the idea that BM goes trawling for fans to hug in elevators.

I had a close call today, which had me wondering.....how many of you have had a problem with this? I've already had to go in some pretty public situations to avoid soiling myself. I shit myself at Wal-Mart once. Wouldn't have been so bad, but I was working the register at the time and did it in front of a line of customers. I went to the bathroom, wiped it all over everything, and walked out. I still have this weird thing about being in a large shopping center, it's really conducive to getting the urge to go, or just plain ol' shitting yourself.

Advice? Shit Stories?

Not sure if any of you knew, but the T-i- bet thing is sensitive here, and because of the rioting here recently, no one here can access youtube. This is the second time in 6 months that it's been down. Last time it was about a month. Wikipedia, bbc, and many others are blocked too. Even porn is a risk, but you know..... The story on how blogspot got banned is interesting. Sucks pretty hard. At least I have cable here.
