My introduction to them was "Paranoid Chant", off of some comp, then I went straight to "Double Nickles".  That didn't work out so well.  I didn't really get it when I was 15, but it made sense a few years later.

I think the We Jam Econo documentary, and the chapter on them in Our Band Could Be Your Life could really help them make more sense for those who feel that they don't currently get them.  However, I don't think that stuff would do much for anyone who has already decided that they dislike them.

The 3rd album was kind of a let down for me at first, so I wasn't sure what to expect.  This one is great.  I was fully sold on it by the sixth song "Schools Out" which contains a line that made me think of The Dictators: "Got kicked outta my class, I'm failing science and math, can't stand all that shit, don't wanna work but I wanna be rich."

No offense but if you are putting your cat on t shirts and cardboard thingys and whatnot, you have WAY too much time on your hands, dude.

Gary's been the mascot of a relatively big skateboarding site for a while now.  Somehow, Gary coverage ended up going much further than that, resulting in a demand for Gary paraphernalia.  It's not so much a product of owner obsession (which I assume is certainly a factor), but more about pleasing the fans.

I'm sensing some jealousy on your part (probably a common trait among cat owners).  If it makes you feel any better, I think that judging by this pic (http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff89/drucifer72/crankycrunchy.jpg), that your cat should be on "cardboard thingys" also.

Why do you guys keep posting Pitchfork reviews that I end up reading and getting all pissed? Not only does this douche understate (to maintain cool), he recklessly overstates by saying shit like So Cow is like "the Clean at their most engaging." I like some So Cow tunes, but fuck that shit. It was just a meaningless name-drop, anyway, which is another thing that pisses me off about these urban hayseeds.

That's exactly why I didn't bother to read it.  It was bad enough reading the stuff from it that you quoted/summarized.

Everything about Hokus Pokus ruled.  I just watched some of it tonight for the first time in almost a year, and now I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to sit through work tomorrow.  I'm surprised that "Ron Allen is Blank Dogs" was never suggested as a possibility on here, considering the sound of some of his skate video soundtrack contributions.  Specifically Black Dress Theory, and some of the stuff in the Life video.

I think these two posts sum up how I feel about Richie Jackson:

I don't get hating on the guy because he sets up stuff to skate.  Its called innovation.

Waxing the ground is a highly suspect tactic popular among rollerbladers.

Fabricating skate spots is more an indication that someone's out of ideas.  He had a good thing going at first, but now he's just kind of regurgitating the same ideas in all of his recent footage.  It's getting to be like a band who writes an album full of songs that all sound the same, with maybe one or two keepers.

My perspective on this might be a little different, as I still skate every day, and keep up on this stuff obsessively.
