Whenever this topic comes up, the first thing that comes to mind for me is always "Eight Miles High":

Maniac Mansion....i keep hearing about that game but I never played it.  Is it as cool as it sounds?

Maniac Mansion was great.  Here's a free version of it for PC: http://www.bigbluecup.com/games.php?action=detail&id=401

The music on the NES version was awesome, not sure of how it is in that version though.

I realize that there are odd song choices appearing in commercials maybe now moreso than ever, but this one is just weird.  Something about the song seemed a little familiar so I looked it up.  Not only is it featured in the commercial, but also appears as a looping track on their site: http://www.tgifridays.com/home/welcome.aspx

I like to imagine that Karp and Behead The Prophet No Lord Shall Live were considered first, before settling on a more user friendly sound.

I heard recently that Varg was out on a weekend visitation from jail (because in Norway you can do stuff like that when you are locked up for murdering someone and eating their brain) and he never came back and may still be at large. Anyone know if there is any truth to this rumor? I'd like to hear a new METAL Burzum record instead of that synthy shit he has been churning out in prison.

Norway's most notorious musician to be released from prison:

Also when Apu's wife has octuplets.  My favorite scene in that one is when the Simpson's bring him banana Officer Brad and he loses it.  I wish I could quote it but can't

Apu:      Welcome to my nightmare.
Marge:      I knew you had your hands full with the babies, so I
      baked you some banana bread.
Apu:      [sarcastic] Oh hallelujah, our problems are solved.
      We have banana bread.
Marge:      Well, you don't have to be sarcastic.
Manjula:   Oh, look who's here.  The family with one baby.  How
      do you manage?
Homer:      [sotto voce to Marge] Marge, they've turned into
      jerks.
Apu:      [stands up.  The babies fall off, and some milk
      squirts out of the bottles]
Excuse me, we've been rude.  Can I offer you
      something to drink?

The Boss covered/enjoys Suicide.  No City Rocker would ever do that, not even by accident.  That still doesn't exclude him from at least having an influence on City Rock.

Mitch, how's about a ruling on my previous post on pg. 23 about Michelob not being the only city rocker beer?

I'm not Mitch, but Miller could have been a contender for THE city rock beer until it started sponsoring non-city bands. I nominate Lowenbrau.

I think this 1986 Michelob ad eliminates any need for further discussion:

The Night Belongs to Michelob Commercial (1986):

Touching on some serious City Rock imagery.  It strays a little bit, but the city's a big place, they can't just focus on one demographic.

side bar:

Can chicks City Rock?  I vote no.

Is City Rock a white man's music exclusively?  I vote yes.

Playing City Rock is certainly strictly a man's game.  I'd say a City Rock band is allowed at least one non-white member, but the lead singer has to be white.  Even with a non-white member, it remains white man's music exclusively.
