Non-Music Shit / Re: Movies I've been watching

Finally watched The Hustler (1961).  Very good.

and just to make everything even cooler, he plays in a teabagger metal band.  Yes, the faux-populist American reactionary movement.

Wow.  What type of metal does it sound like?  Given the description, I'm imagining some combination of Accept and some Nuge moves.

I was 14, and stuck inside an attic in rural Wisconsin all day due to rain.  This mohawk kid played two songs over and over all day: The Business "Welcome to the Real World" and the second part of "Bitchin' Camaro".  Once I got home, I realized I wanted more of whatever it was that I had heard, but I wasn't really sure of specifically what it was.  After some research, I ended up buying a Fugs CD and Sex Pistols "Better Live Than Dead" from a local used CD store.  It was a confusing and awkward introduction.

William Kunstler Disturbing The Universe
Pretty good doc on activist lawyer who defended the Chicago 8 and others during the civil rights movement then defended rapists and terrorists in the 80s.

I watched that a couple of weeks ago on PBS.  Enjoyed this speech excerpt they played toward the end of it:

Prior to reading some of this thread, I thought it was going to be about bands who looked like this:

Is that what that ambulance was there for?

Was it out in front of Empty Bottle, or more toward Clemente high school?  There was a 10 or 12 person brawl on the sidewalk, a little closer to Clemente.  An undercover cop grabbed a few of them, and one guy was yelling about how he couldn't see anything.  I figured an ambulance might be showing up after that.

Fake Arab On Radar / Oxes split is pretty much the only thing I remember about that band: http://www.fakejazz.com/reviews/2001/oxes4.shtml

Some people got really uptight about that one.  I wonder if anyone has done that recently.

I went back and talked to a manager and got a $30 refund.  He also admitted that media mail is acceptable for sound recordings.

was matter of fact ("of course sound recordings are acceptable!") about it?

It was one of those.  He also tried to search around to see if my stuff had been sent out, and was pissed when he learned it was already out of the building.

Book rate // Media Mail has a provision that includes audio... You should be fine.

Yeah, I pointed out 1.1 e. ("e. Sound recordings, including incidental announcements of recordings and guides or scripts prepared solely for use with such recordings. Video recordings and player piano rolls are classified as sound recordings.") to him like 10 times, and he just would not budge on the issue.  I guess he was just being a cock.
