i'm all for shattered and contaminated (and yes my own label) doing limited versions. as long as the record is kept in press to meet the demand i don't think there's any problem with doing limited color runs or diff. covers or whatnot. i think the only prob is when labels wont repress records that are in demand to pump up collectibility.
i like doing alt sleeves and collector scum editions --- for me it's not cynical, it's just fun. like getting a hand-painted sleeve by alicja is great but if i miss it i'm fine with the regular press - no biggie.
also for future releases i'm going to limit orders to 1 copy except for legit distros
in an unrelated note: i'm pretty guilty of being a stupid jay reatard fanboy and i think that ssld lost sounds single is the only vinyl he's appeared on i dont have - so i can see myself ponying up some cash for it at some point - but i'll wait a few years and see if it settles down (there's prob some other gaps in my reatard collection but none that i'm aware of)
