We're excited to announce four new titles, three by artists new to Skrot Up, and one whom we've released a few titles by previously.


Xunholm -  Asleep in the Shattered Mirror (SUT102)
Ex-Ga'an and E.T. Habit-member Jason Sublette examines the progressive electronic elements of Italian 70s horror scores and masterfully fuses it with brooding ambient to create blood-curdling and paranoia-inducing music.

Bary Center - Requiem Bells (SUT103)
Garbage Electro recorded on outdated equipment while huffing spray paint. Bary Center's lo-fi techno ushers in the  minimal strain with a stripped down and raw sound, containing only the most essential elements to make people move.

Regular Music - Vase & Ass (SUT104)
Synthesizers, various percussion, and plucked strings create a lush and labyrinthine mesh of layers. The sound of tablas features prominently on several tracks and propel the epic and floating arrangements in an Eastern direction, blending organic and synthetic elements to perfection.

Q///Q - N Sa Bwa (SUT105)
The man behind German Army and Submissions has a new outlet for his dark and disturbing musical visions. Q///Q's vibe is slightly more uplifting though, with melodic scraps of synth pop and beats that sound like echoes from an arcade during peak hours framing the mysterious and beguiling vistas.

All four tapes are limited to 60 copies, hand-numbered, pro-dubbed, and come with imprinted shells and full-color j-cards + download.

The group is linked by their raw and energetic style informed by life in the complex American experience; with it?s looming pop culture-mythology, and drastic urban landscapes that mix poverty and wealth, physical and social violence, grime and sterility, and all other polarities. These artists combine the aesthetic of the DIY punk rock poster and 19th century Avantgarde distinctions into a potent visual cocktail resisting categorization.

German Army (LP) The foreboding shadow cast by the Los Angeles duo German Army has grown exponentially in nuance with the unit's prolific output since their debut release in 2011.
Leaving a trail of highly praised releases on international labels such as Night-People, Hobo Cult, Clan Destine Records, Electric Voice, No Kings, Chondritic Sound, and Skrot Up, German Army also managed to climb to the top of the UK-blog 20JazzFunkGreats Best-of-2012 list. German Army, the group's self-titled LP, opens with the pungent beat of Guinea Strong Arm, a dubbed out mix of early electronic sci-fi soundtrack meets liquid post punk with an underlying riff that sounds like it was lifted from a Trashmen instrumental. Followed by the sinkhole bassline and chopped rhythm of Folded Skin, a strangely calm and soothing voice recites words from what might be ancient scripts on desert fauna, or a faded TV-Guide. Side one ends with Ox Cart, the audio equivalent of a chance encounter between Dr. Moreau and Kurt Weill. Pulling Lashes, Translate Person, and Saxon Skull take up side two, expanding the slow burn stomp with more leaking synth patterns, surreal modulation, and murky low end slithering and creeping beneath the dank surface.
Mangled into a dreamy and indeterminate genre virus spawned by rock that doesn't rock and dance music you can't dance to, German Army keep their intentions as obscure as their song titles and leave it up to the listener to decipher whether their austere incantations make him -or her want to sway or cry.
The album is being released in a limited edition of 200 copies featuring full-color paste-on artwork (front + back), and insert (red, yellow, blue, or green). Download included.

Originally the solo-project of Toronto-native Mark Sauner, The Pink Noise first established itself with a series of highly regarded albums on Sacred Bones, Kill Shaman, Night People, Almost Ready, and Pleasence Records. Now based in Montreal, The Pink Noise operates as a full band, with a sound that re-imagines the impulses that characterized the earlier work through more structured songwriting, higher fidelity, and lyrical clarity.
