Frustrations new LP "Transmission from the Ether" out now on X! Records
Vinyl: http://www.x-recs.com/
Digital/stream: http://www.xrecords.bandcamp.com

This will be Frustrations last East coast tour probably ever. 2 members live in different states now. We will have our buddy Pete Steffy (Johnny Ill Band, Beekeepers, etc) filling in on bass for the trip. We may do a West coast tour (get in touch if YOU wanna book it, heh heh) later this year but that will probably be it besides maybe an occasional Detroit show when it happens to work out. So come out to one of these shows if you are one of the 19 people that ever dug us.

FRUSTRATIONS "Transmission from the Ether" LP

Detroit's Frustrations 3rd LP has been a long time coming but may arguably be their best. Some choice noise-guitar skronk is showcased alongside plenty of Aussie-esque drive to the record, interweaved with darker post-punk neg vibes throughout the trip. Killer cover art by Mac Blackout. Links below.

FAKE SURFERS "Cheap Meat" one-sided LP

This is guitar and drums duo Fake Surfers debut big-sized record. After a split 7" with fellow Detroit buds Eroders and a tape on Flesh Wave these guys come at ya now with 10 songs in just under 18 minutes keeping it concise and frantic on their debut LP. Think Necros/early Dischord juvenile snarl with a dose of Reatards and Cheater Slicks lo-fi frustration to get some of the picture.

Both LPs available here: http://www.x-recs.com

Music Shit / Modern KBD Accidents?

Don't ask me how I stumbled upon this but seemed like some people on here might appreciate how dumb this is:

Other honorable mentions: The "guitar work" on "We're So Drunk" and "Drunk Driving"

Anyone else have any gems to share?

Psyched to finally be getting this out. I've been wanting to release the song "Pallet Stacking" for a long time now. It's a weird one that doesn't fall easily into one bag or another. Deadpan vocals with great lyrics recorded basic over a minimal bass line dirge has a haunting vibe that still maintains a sense of humor. Tasteful sax playing that builds tension with the drummer in a tight way without being stiff. These dudes can play but don't care about being too flashy. Introverted weirdos that are disconnected from what is hip right now in the best way. Check it out, feel weird.

Music Shit / Liquid Idiot 7"
« on: December 10, 2012, 11:27:35 PM »
According to Discogs...

"Liquid Liquid were originally a much more punk sounding band called Liquid Idiot who released one 7" before reforming as Liquid Liquid."

I found this link of somebody who scanned the art: http://theworldsamess.blogspot.com/2006/01/liquid-idiot.html

Anybody have a copy of this? Can't find audio samples anywhere. Would love to hear it if anyone has it and wants to rip it, etc.

Protomartyr - Colpi Proibiti 7" EP - X!020

X! is pleased to announce the release of a new 7" EP by Detroit's Protomartyr. This is their second release after a debut 7" on Urinal Cake Records. These guys started out great and have earned some die-hard fans over the past year. Drop the needle and dive into the mind of chief singer/ranter Joe Casey and his world of paranoid self-depracation, skewed sentimentality, and baseball. Wiry punk that veers between aggressive and melodic hooks while never losing a driving beat. Live staple "Baseball Bat" leads off the record followed by the smoocher "You're with A Creep". Take a listen to "The Milk Drinkers" (featuring Kevin from Tyvek on extra guitar) and try to get the melody out of your head. Ain't gonna happen. "Psychic Doorbell" finishes out the B-side and leaves ya wanting more. 500 pressed on black vinyl.

Take a listen to it here: soundcloud.com/xrecords
Buy it here: x-recs.com

Side A
1. Baseball Bat
2. You're with A Creep

Side B
3. The Milk Drinkers

Both releases are available from our brand new website: http://www.x-recs.com

Artist: Frustrations
Album Title: Negative Reflections
Catalog number: X!018
Listen: http://www.soundcloud.com/frustrations/sets
Description: Detroit's FRUSTRATIONS have arrived with their second album,
Negative Reflections, out on X! Records. The 9 tracks on the LP were
recorded and mixed over a series of Midnight-6AM sessions in a dank
warehouse by Danny "Bing" Tomczak (Ex-TERRIBLE TWOS), which may explain
why Negative Reflections has a darker thread of weird vibes running
through its songs when compared to their first LP Glowing Red Pill (X!,
2008). Think the more agressive side of SPACEMEN 3, the off-kilter song
structures of MX-80 SOUND, and a decent dose of the wilder SST/TOUCH & GO
bands for a glimpse into FRUSTRATIONS sound.

Tracklist:
1. The Drill
2. Meaningless
3. Surgeon
4. Shimmer
5. These Woods
6. Exhaust
7.Confusion Kills
8. No Repair
9. Black Lightning

Artist: Johnny Ill Band
Album Title: In the Wintertime b/w Matt Larson, Dan Braun 7"
Catalog number: X!019
Listen: http://soundcloud.com/xrecords/sets/johnnyillband/
Description: It's official- "In the Wintertime" has been declared the new
National Anthem of the Midwest. A great listen if you're sitting and
shivering, waiting for the heat to kick in while you're driving to work.
JOHNNY ILL BAND have been making noise in different incarnations around
Detroit for a few years now. With a solid new lineup, two previous 7"
singles under their belt, this new 3-song 7" on X!, and an already
finished LP coming out early next year, they show no sign of slowing down.
Think the playfully innocent but stone-sincere lyrics of MODERN LOVERS and
the raw melodic sensibilities of early PAVEMENT for a sketch of the JOHNNY
ILL BAND sound. Recorded by Chris Koltay at High Bias Studio in Detroit.

Side A: In the Wintertime
Side B: Matt Larson
           Dan Braun

I'm in London for a few days and wanna try to meet up. Booked his band a while ago using Myspace, which is useless now, so I'm not sure how to get in touch with him. His email or their booking email or whatever would be cool.

Also, anyone have suggestions for stuff to do in London and Berlin?

Thanks!
