Music Shit / my new town

went for a trip to spend some gift card action at the local reocrd store in red lion, pa. it's just 5 mins from where i am. me and the owner were talking about cold wave/ minimal synth and i brought up the blank dogs. there was a dude listening in that has a bunch of blank dogs stuff already (and is a termbo lurker) and was shocked to hear a conversation about that style at all. i knew i made the right move. i'm gonna get shit started here for sure. can't wait until the zine gets finished. gonna melt the brains of all the local skateboard kids. plus i walked outta there with the celluloid issue of the suicide lp, the '86 press of the red kross alb, my war (1st press) and the mono reish of the 13th floor elevators lp on sundazed. so much good shit in there it's ridiculous. i've finally found the right spot or me. woohoo!

never happened to me before until yesterday. worst pain of my life. i screamed, saw spots and slowly lowered myself onto the bed where i stayed for hours. i even had an emotional breakdown and cried like a li'l bitch. i'm a bit more mobile today but it still hurts lamf.

Have you ever noticed that when British people say words like "fuck" and "cunt" that it doesn't really sound so bad? Remember that band of trashy limeys that shocked the world with super-crudity and calousness in the 60s called the Kinks? They filled the airwaves and kids' turntables with noise and distortion and, for the first time in history, that didn't sound so bad either! I'm guessing this has to do with the fact that in England you can walk in to a bar and legally drink beer at the age of three. The United Kingdom's latest batch of fish-grease filth, including Sheffield's The Hipshakes, have been making sure that we don't mistake ugliness for pleasantries. Proto Idiot (ne Andrew Hipshake) has made damn sure of this with his debut solo LP "Andrew Anderson" (Slovenly 702-76LP). Amidst the Jack Oblivianesque funked-out dirt-blues groove and bedroom punk spazz-outs we have tracks here with dreamy back up vocals and "Village Green" worthy melodies making for a brilliant onslaught of pop beauty, combined with all the expletive chaos you've grown accustomed to with the Hipshakes prolific discography. What we have here is a goddamn perfect 12 song LP of "fuck you you bloody cunt," but don't take it the wrong way... it's played in the nicest possible manner.

Legendary punk rock photographer Theresa K will be in town and presenting her wares in the Cathedral Room at Der Maennerchor (221 North Street) and The Thing With Two Heads will be droppin' deadlies all night long! But back to Theresa... she took THE FIRST EVER pics of The Germs, not to mention great and early pics of The Cramps, Ramones, Dead Boys and way too many more to mention! Look for the interview with Theresa K in the newest issue of MODE, and an upcoming feature in the Patriot-News.
