Funny you should mention it!  Some TB's have been cobbling up just that....hoping to have first issue ready to print in a couple of months.  I've got about 30 pages so far.

Would love to contribute if you need more writers...

La Rose De Fer

Rollin has never failed me yet in delivering the visual poetics, but coupled with the heavy, permanent relevance of this story, it's totally epic.  A couple of lovebirds meet for a bike ride through the cemetery (the beautiful Amiens), explore crypts a bit too deeply, and emerge again into total darkness.  Lost.  Trapped inside the gates of the cemetery, where they go through a series of transformations while searching for a way out together.  This is not a horror film.  It is an allegory of love and it's effects, as well as it's position inside the "real world".  In that way, it's compeltely terrifying and mesmerizing at the same time.

This sounds sick. Yo, TTT, can you recommend some other good Rollin flicks? I've only seen Grapes of Death (which was amazing) and Zombie Lake (which was not).

Also, someone needs to press the Grapes of Death soundtrack on wax. That shit is hot fire.

What's everyone's take on Boys Next Door? I think they have some great songs, particularly "Brave Exhibitions." I heard Cave pretty much disowned all that stuff...

Great 80s action flick from director Joseph Zito (The Prowler, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Invasion USA).

AKA Cut and Run. Sleazy and gory jungle actioner from Cannibal Holocaust director Ruggero Deodato. Pretty rad.

Awesome Aussie post-apocalyptic car movie from Brian Trenchard-Smith (Turkey Shoot, Stunt Rock, BMX Bandits). Inexplicably part of a combo DVD with Cut and Run.

An Aussie version of The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser or Being There? Either way it's EXCELLENT.

My girlfriend went into AA as a teenager and it saved her life. It gave her a sense of community and helped her get through a lot of family bullshit. She eventually left because she realized she's not an alcoholic, which was tough for her because she lost a lot friends in the process.

I consider myself a functional/responsible alcoholic. I rarely blackout, don't drive drunk, don't get into fights, don't fuck other girls, etc. But I do drink A LOT. I've often contemplated going to meetings but the catalyst to go just isn't there. My girlfriend is fine with it for the most part and made a good point-- "some people are just heavy drinkers."

When I have kids I am definitely getting sober. I don't want to be "drunk dad."
