Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / Destruction Unit/Digital Leather tour
« on: October 19, 2012, 02:52:54 AM »
Surprised there hasn't been anything about this on here, but Destruction Unit (Ryan Rousseau of Reatards/the Wongs/Earthmen and Strangers/Tokyo Electron) are heading out on tour for couple of weeks through the Midwest/Northeast/South starting tomorrow, with Digital Leather on board for some of the shows.  The tour reunites two guys--DU's Rousseau and Shawn Foree of Digital Leather--who got to know each other through their close involvement with Jay Reatard, producing their own greatness in the process.  I did my best to--in shorthand--tie together the relationship between the three of them as the tour starts tomorrow.  Read about everything and check out links for both bands here--http://volarrecords.blogspot.com/2012/10/destruction-unitdigital-leather-tour.html.

The folks over at Impose Magazine were nice enough to run a little feature on the label, and I've included a downloadable mix of tracks from every release so far, including a few upcoming (Eat Skull, Beaters, Tar Halos, etc.).  You can read the feature here and make fun of me on the message board-- http://www.imposemagazine.com/features/volar-records --, or go straight here and download the thing and still come back and make fun of me-- http://soundcloud.com/volar-records/sets/impose-on-volar.  Thanks!

Still have plenty of limited color copies of all of these releases.  Thanks.

psyched for the eat skull 7"! is volar putting out the eat skull III lp?

Me too! I've known Rob for years and told him a while back that he had an open offer if he ever wanted to together.  He hit me up out of the blue with this stuff, really glad he did.  The LP is coming out sometime this winter on Woodsist, looking forward to that as well.

Wanted to let folks now that these are all in stock now.  Check the link below for more info and trax and stuff.

http://volarrecords.blogspot.com/2012/09/www.volarrecords.bigcartel.com.html

Happy to finally announce that, amidst plenty of frustration with my pressing plant, the Shannon and the Clams "Gremlins Crawl" b/w "White Rabbit" (Jefferson Airplane cover--stream both tracks below), the limited color repress of Audacity's "Ears and Eyes" 7" EP, the limited color repress of the Nerves tribute LP, and the limited color repress of the Tropical Popsicle's--"Beach With no Footprints" 7", are all finally on their way and will be shipping next week when I get back in town.  Have a listen to everything below, peruse our store at volarrecords.bigcartel.c om to purchase the mailorder color copies of some of these titles, and thanks for your patience.

This 7" is part of a three-at-once release along with 1-2-3-4-Go! Records out of SF and Surfin' Ki out of Italy, who will be releasing the "Ozma" b/w "Angel Baby" 7" and "Ozma" b/w "Muppet Babies" 7", respectively.  The last couple of years have proven to be pretty busy following the band's release of a handful of 7"s and their Sleep Talk LP on 1-2-3-4-Go! (you can find all this stuff over at the Clams' website), and with Shannon Clam splitting musical duties between the Clams and Hunx and his Punx and guitarist Cody Blanchard enjoying time with his solo venture, King Lollipop, as well as thrashing it up in Volar labelmates Uzi Rash.  The Clams are also heading out on tour next week, and you can check out those dates, as well as "Gremlins Crawl" and "Ozma" from 1-2-3-4-Go!'s 7" below.  We've got 100 orange vinyl and 100 yellow vinyl, mailorder only, as well as plenty in black. over at our Volar Big Cartel... $6 color, $5 black.

Also available is the color repress of Audacity's "Ears and Eyes" 7" EP on red vinyl, limited to 70 copies, mailorder only (order it here!). The band is embarking on a short West Coast tour next month with Nu Sensae, and then a bigger US tour starting in early November with their good friends in Big Eyes.  I'll have some upcoming news regarding the first Volar singles series, a box set that'll be available in the next few months... one of the 7"s will be a split with Audacity and Big Eyes.  Dates TBA announced sooner than later... $5.

Also, we've repressed San Diego goth/psych act Tropical Popsicle's first 7", "Beach With No Footprints" b/w "Always Awake in Shadows" in a limited color format, just in time for their upcoming "Ghost Beacons" 7".  $5

And last but not least, Under the Covers Vol. 2: A Tribute to Paul Collins, Peter Case, and Jack Lee (of the Nerves) on limited red vinyl.
Includes tracks from GRASS WIDOW, READING RAINBOW, WHITE WIRES, HUNX & HIS PUNX, THE MANTLES, WHITE FENCE, AUDACITY, PERSONAL & THE PIZZAS, DAVILA 666, LE FACE, TIJUANA PANTHERS, SO COW, NEVEREVER, MOONHEARTS, SHARK TOYS, RATAS DEL VATICANO, FORGERY SERIES, and COWABUNGA BABES.  $12

PREORDER the limited color vinyl for this.

SF-based Window Twins, the joint project of Jon Bernson (Exray's/Ray's Vast Basement) and Tim Cohen (Fresh and Onlys/Magic Trick), are gearing up for the release of their sophomore effort, Wish, on October 16th via Volar Records on vinyl and Crash Symbols on cassette, following their debut LP, I Am This Tall City, released in 2009 via Howell's Transmitter. In the time since that first WT record, Bernson has kept busy with Exray's, who, among other things, saw their track, "Hesitation," from their first self-titled LP, wind up in David Fincher's The Social Network, and recently released their sophomore LP, Trust A Robot. Cohen has been especially busy lately, what with the recent release of his solo project Magic Trick's second LP, Ruler of the Night, on Hardly Art, and the upcoming Fresh & Onlys LP, Long Slow Dance, out in September on Mexican Summer.

Preorder the limited-color, mailorder vinyl LP for $14, the cassette for $5, and both as a set for $16, over at volarrecords.bigcartel.c om.  Listen to some already posted stuff below, including affiliated projects, and read Pitchfork's just-posted glowing review of the new Fresh and Onlys LP, Long Slow Dance, out yesterday on Mexican Summer.

I have to kind of admit that this song's not that bad, actually.  But I'll also admit that Toby's one of the most psychotic people I've ever spent more than a few minutes around.

New Blessure Grave song. The band is active and touring.

OH LOOK SOMEBODY HAS A PICTURE OF HIMSELF MOPING AND MOODY ON HIS BED

I lived down the street from him when all this label debacle shit went down.  He's as much of a piece of shit as anyone who's never met him can imagine.
