Music Shit / Re: 'My First Punk Shirt'
« on: June 17, 2013, 07:39:10 AM »
I don't think I bought my first punk shirt until I was 18 and out of high school (1995).  Too many bands got too popular over the previous two years that I held off buying any shirts, for fear that I would have bought a band shirt that someone would have recognized, or something silly like that!  I think the first one I bought was Man or Astroman?

I echo all the "call the exterminator" calls... Scorched earth policy for sure w/these fuckers.  They can get in your walls, in your outlets, everywhere.  In my town, it costs +/-$250 to get rid of a mild infestation in a one bedroom apt.  I check my seat anytime I go someplace in public, even friends' homes, and if I have to stay at a hotel I do a thorough search of the room before putting my bags down.

Stoked!  I was gonna pick up an extra shift at work for some overtime on the 29th but now I'm not!

Non-Music Shit / Re: Greek Diners
« on: March 03, 2013, 10:08:42 AM »
Growing up and living in northern NJ for most of my life, seemed like there was a Greek diner everywhere you looked.  Greeks were the only ethnic group my Italian family didn't slag - my father and my uncles hated everyone!
There was one diner I really liked, think it was the Eagle Rock Diner, in West Orange that always seemed empty, even during peak weekend brunch hours.  A Greek friend of mine told me a convoluted story about how the family that owned it didn't pay proper tribute to the Greek mafia or something.  Then again, this guy was a pathological liar, so who knows?

Music Shit / Re: what's your favourite RIP OFFS song?

I'll say "Sleeparound" just to fuck w/MRR.  I remember the "controversy"... thought it was ridiculous even by MRR standards.  If I'm remembering correctly, weren't there two reviews of "Sleeparound" in that particular issue, one good, one whiny?  "Rip Your Heart Out" was always a great song to start a off a mix.
Love the Infections LP too.  That and the Humpers' Plastique Valentine were my favorite albums in 1997.

ALL OF THEM!
The real reason I went to my first Gonerfest (2007) was because Head played.  I interviewed them in 2008 but it looks like the site that posted it is down.  I'll post it if I can find it.

The Proms have more bids than Charlie and the Skunks?  No justice in this world!

This is the best punk rock record!  Members spread across the country and would go on to be in Lost Controls (Austin), Crisis Hotilnes (Austin), Natural Child (Nashville) and I'm drawing a blank on what Dustin did...

Worse than Pop Punk / Re: Talibam! update
« on: August 29, 2012, 05:35:09 AM »
Noodle is/was Matt, the guy reclining w/the ladies.  I haven't seen him in years but I knew him when he was a student at SUNY New Paltz.  The guitarist in my band was his housemate and Matt would get help us get shows whenever his bands played.  It was often a clusterfuck since we were a punk band and Matt's bands were noise/free jazz.  We did not go over well w/that crowd.

Does Noodle still call himself Noodle?

One of my old bands recorded an album in his bedroom.  It smelled like dirty socks.
