Dragnet is my favorite, even beating Hex.  Something about that dark, claustrophobic production...

Heavy Cramps influence on this record.

Been fixated on Martin Rev's first album for a few weeks now. I think I like it better than Suicide's second and at least as much as their first.

I'll have to revisit that Rev LP, but...  Wow, as much as the first Suicide?  Again, have to try it a second time.  I trust Vic's judgment.  Even though he's a fucking racist.

The Barracudas' "Don't Let Go" is killin' me.

Kind of agree about that Marin Rev album. i mean maybe not as much as the first Suicide, but def. the second. and that's not because the second Suicide record isn't incredible, it's just the Rev record's that good. 'course I know plenty of people take second Suicide over the first, but yeah. That Barracudas song kills me on a regular basis too. more so than a lot of the shit they rip off. about as good as any retro band could hope to be.

Been stuck on vaguely 'atmospheric' shit today:

Blues Control Puff.

Yeah it's claustrophobic for sure. especially when you couple that production with something like "A firgure walks" or "Muzorewi's daughter." almost wish they would have employed that recording technique a little more. I guess they kind of came back to it on Room to Live but with the exception of "Papal Visit" none of it sounds quite as fucked. Not really one to complain about anything the Fall did from their beginning til, say 1986. Possibly the most consitently genious band of all time during that run.

Also damn, haven't picked up a "new" record in awhile. Really gotta get on that Pheromoans and Folded Shirt.

hackamore brick - one kiss leads to another. whats the fuss over this? vu light, the whole thing sounds like half assed 'oh sweet nothing' sessions without lou reed. was expecting some kind of rock n roll

pheremoans - it still rankles. didn't make it to side 2. i'll give it another try, but i feel like i shouldn't have to try to like music this hard. door and the window-like inaccessibility.
I like the Hackamore Brick LP ALOT, as do a lot of people here i assume. It's obviously heavily indebted to Loaded (and even more so Squeeze) but its just one of the better VU rips of all time, and they were doing it before that sort of thing was to be expected. I also don't think that door and the window are the least bit inaccessible though so...

Listening to:
Euphoria A Gift From... Fucking fantastic. better than the other Euphoria (not that it matters) and I like Lost in Trance quite a bit.
The Fall Dragnet. Might be my favorite fall record after Hex. Grotesque
or Perverted by Language are probably better but I;ve always loved how murky and thin this one sounds. like it could fall apart at any minute.
Panic 13. STILL. Gets better with every listen.

Would like to attend this. Charm city suicides are awful tho.

Killer. That Call Back the Giants album was a favorite from last year. Real excited for the follow-up. Likewise for more of Lambkin's sound art stuff.

The Manson-affiliated Bobby Beausoleil Lucifer Rising OST is a favorite. But yeah, i imagine this stuff's pretty bland for the most part.

^^^Yeah that Tazartes LP looks nice, tryin to grip a copy myself. Been listening too:

Walker Brothers Nite Flights. Great Scott Walker E.P.
Harmonia w/ Eno Tarcks and Traces. Always an enjoyable listen.
Patrick Burke Silence and Timing. So proper and mild-mannered. It's no Parasites but what is?
Peter Grudzien The Unicorn. Can never decide whether I like this or hate it.
Culo demo I downloaded. This is modern hardcore I can get behind, absolutely no art anywhere in sight.

Listening to some recent aquistions as well as record purchases from a few months ago that are getting ready to be filed:

Vox Pop-Cab driver b/w Just like your mom. obviously killer.
Devo-Mongoloid b/w jocko homo. same as above.
Units 1st e.p. sounds pretty suspect after listening to Devo. Not bad i guess.
Wretched discography LP. pretty 'raging.'
Moby Grape S/T. Never owned on vinyl unitl recently despite being a fan for awhile. Guess I was waiting to find it for $3, which was nice, though it would've been nicer if it came with the huge poster.
Scott Walker Tilt. This led to a mandatory listen of The Drift, which led to a listen of Nite Flights which led to a listen of the Sightings record on which they cover "The Electrician." I'm having a problem filing this cause i don't want to stop putting it on.

Other than that I mostly just listened to NWW all day. a co-worker came in during one of the piano pieces on A Sucked Orange and commented on how 'nice this music is' which i found kind of funny.

The Saints by a very, very wide margin. A tougher question would be second best. Kind of leaning toward X just cause the LP is so perfect. I like the Fun Things e.p. just fine but prefer "The Jokes on Us" a lot more. feedtime, Young Identities...Slugfuckers are another personal favorite.

Finally getting a chance to listen to some records:

D.R. Hooker The Truth. Killer record, so many bizarre genre nods thrown in that shouldn't work (and pretty often don't) but still really enjoyable. I bought a copy of the Scorpio reissue yesterday and some guy at the record store saw it and was telling me how he found an original in a collection of 78's he bought a few years ago (it was the only rock record) and the cover was thrashed from water damage. Said the booklet was fine and the vinyl played perfectly, what a bummer.
Sapat Mortisse and Tenon. Wish this band would've done more, this is honestly one of the better records of the past couple years. Love the Parson Sound rip on the a-side that ends up falling apart on itself.
Circle X reish. So fucking bleak, kinda sounds like a less obnoxious Swans (though I like Swans fine) to me, both musically and lyrically.
Lee Hazlewood Cowboy in Sweden. Everytime I listen to Lee some lyric i never noticed jumps out, this time it was "I heard my brother died last week or was that just a rumor?"
20/20 giving it all b/w under the freeway.
Bodysnatchers frantic b/w mystery reish. This was the only savage reissue I wasn't familiar with, glad to pick it up.

I realy gotta pick up that Pheromoans LP.

Woke up and listened to the first Factrix single and Scheintot on the iPod on the way to work. As good a way as any to start the day i guess. Other than that its been:

DNA 2xLP. Easily favorite No Wave band.
Hackamore Brick One Kiss Leads to Another. Never get tired of it. The first three songs are perfect. Second best record the Velvets didn't make (or third if you count Squeeze).
Scientists S/T. Never checked out the early pop stuff until somewhat recently, despite being a fan of the swamp era for awhile, and its pretty fucking good. Not that this is a revelation or anything, but if they would have just changed the name than everybody but genre purists would like both.
Nick Drake Pink Moon. Nick Drake kind of sucks but I like him.
Television Marquee Moon

Group 1850 Agemo's Trip to Mother Earth. Goddamn i need a vinyl copy of this. Has it ever been reissued? imagine it must have been at some point but can't find anything and original copies go for quite a bit it seems. i'd gladly drop $30 for a real high quality faithful reissue that came with the 3-D glasses and all that shit.

It was reissued... I dunno, between seven and ten years ago.  I have a copy -- It came with the stupid 3-D glasses.  It's a nice-enough pressing and will probably run you $40 - 50.  A reissue (maybe a bootleg) of Paradise Now came out recently and goes for about $25.

The best Groep 1850 song by a wide margin is "Mother No-Head," which unfortunately isn't on either album but can be found on the all-Dutch volume of Rubble.  Strangely, there exists this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k6GvXWHmrw of the groep miming the song on Dutch TV in 1975, long after they ceased to be a going concern.
Yeah, I've got that LP reissue too.  It is nice enough.  In ye olde timey days Forced Exposure used to sell a CD that had all of Agemo's Trip To Mother Earth" and all of the early single tracks.  It had that jam and even a version of it in French.

Yeah i've seen the reish of Paradise Now but never Agemo...Thanks for the tip i'll keep an eye out for it. The singles, including "mother no-head" are great but i really the like the all-encompassing feeling of the first LP as a whole the most.
