just bumping this one more time to let those interested know i'm running low at HQ. plan to do a small re-press but if you want a copy i wouldn't wait too long. in the u.s., they appear to also still be available from swill radio (along with plenty of other fine products, give scott your fuckin' money!), and a stack is headed permanent's way. for euroman, they should be landing on mark harwood/pp's door any day now and eternal soundcheck got a small stack for australians. that's about it.

fuckin' right.

good news for curious europeans who are (understandably) wary of taking the pricey direct order plunge-a shipment will be en route to penultimate press shortly. check here: http://penultimate-press.blogspot.com. plenty of other worthwhile purchases in mark's catalog as well.

Any North American distros getting this? If not that's cool and I'll order one from you in a heartbeat- just wondering so I could save a little on shipping.

i got 'ya. shipping is really killer on this one, i should have made it like three separate issues. as of right now this will be distributed through little big chief and swill radio in the u.s. australians can cop from distort, wormwood grasshopper and in store at real bad music. sorry, nothing in canada or anywhere else in north america at the moment. same goes for europe. if any distros wanna carry get in touch.

No worries, I was just being a little cheap. Just pulled the trigger and ordered one direct, I've got no doubt that it'll be worth it.

thanks! i won't be so bold as to guarantee you won't regret you're decision, but i appreciate the purchase regardless.

Hey, it has been awhile since I've posted on here but I figured perhaps some of you would be interested in procuring a copy of the last issue of Put the Music in its Coffin. Details below:

Put the Music in its Coffin is back from a long hibernation for one last coming out party before self-imposed exile, and you?re invited to cum ahn pheel tha noize! Originally, the fifth and final issue was planned to be a collaborative effort of a small but admirable gathering of the minds from the underside of contemporary ?music journalism,? but as your lone wolf ?Editor? ?aint exactly the networking type and can?t be bothered with follow up reminders/requests, it soon became clear that it was best to stick to the same format as the previous four. Here ?The Journalist? lends his insights to a reappraisal of the harsher sides of early non-music, be it academic, underground, or decidedly above in nature, and discusses a few works in terms of the birth Hardcore Punk. Plus, a lengthy overview of Scott Foust?s career from the man?s biggest fan, himself, a long talk, rife with informed commentary on topics ranging from inept Japanese Prog. to Taylor Swift, with the duo that compromise what is currently Philadelphia?s most promising musical unit, Good Area, and a brief but poignant internet correspondence with one of Australia?s top exports of broken sound for over a decade strong, Matt Earle. Not to mention the typically bulging reviews section made even more so from the amount of time we?ve been away for and you?ve got an issue with as much content as the first four combined. 84 full size (11x17) pages with full color center spread. Good Gard what a way to go out!

To purchase, Paypal to richiesdog@gmail.com.

U.S.-$10 ppd
Canada-$12 ppd
World-$16 ppd

In RE: to the prices, yes, I am aware that no one wants to pay this much for a shoddy little fanzine, and I don?t want to charge it, but this thing really is pretty damn thick, and thus cost a decent sum to print, the weight of which in turn effects shipping costs. Trust me, I am not making any money on this. Interested distros, please get in contact for wholesale rates.

thanks for the head's up man, will investigate.

This goes for three figures now?

Maybe I'm just not lookin' in the right places, but from what I can tell, yes. Some mongo even has it listed on Amazon for 699.99 (plus shipping)  :o! Strange that it isn't kept in print, reissued, whatever. You do a google search on the damn thing and there's people trying to find a copy only a few years after it had been released.

I'd try the Wants thread on I Hate Music for this one, if you haven't already.  I'll keep an eye out for it in Bay Area bins.

sound advice. I think i'll do just that if i can remember my login info. though IHM seems more or less dead it's def. the place to go for this. appreciate you keepin' an eye out in your neck of the woods as well.

slow day at the office. as of late:

Jakob Ullmann A Catalogue of Sounds. Delicate, dense shit. Ullmann's one of the best "quiet music" guys going, and despite being at it for decade's his discography is small enough not to be daunting. just make sure you have headphones handy, this wasn't made to be heard out of speakers. really need to re-new my digital subscription to The Wire so i can read this month's interview, or at least get to a Barnes & Noble or something before the next issue comes out.

Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza 1967-1975. fantastic collection of group improvisations (as the name might suggest) from Evangelisti, Morricone, et al. this's all i've heard of 'em so far but i'm really looking forward to the forthcoming "joint" to be issued by superior viaduct.

John Greaves/Peter Blegvad/Lisa Herman Kew. Rhone. Not huge on the henry cow/slap happy/RIO tip, but this side project is agreeable enough. Herman's vocals and tasteful flute accompniment is what does it for me. woulda made a good addition to the Prog thread from awhile back if it wasn't mentioned. there's a theme in the lyrics and i have no idea what it is. i hope it stays that way.

Madrigal S/T. been coming back to the mp3s of this a lot lately. definitely at the top of the "why isn't this reissued" or, as it seems no one can get a hold of the members, "why isn't this booted?" pile. the fact that they have what are, ostensibly very conventional hippie-folk songs right next to nonsensical freak-outs makes the straight shit even creepier. bonus points for achieving the most primitive rhythm box sound imaginable.

End Result Ward. Lax hipped me to this and i owe him more than what i paid for it. underrated chunk of nihilistic art punk, verging on very twisted hardcore at times. fits somewhere in the middle of Blight, Black Humor and Spike in Vain, and just as good as all of them too.

Been huntin' one of these for a while, but kinda gave up after not seeing one for months. Nice score.

yeah was happy with that one, they don't turn up too often. not a mint copy but the price was more than nice.

Also wouldn't mind paying anything less than three figures for the Morton Feldman//John Tilbury All Piano 4xCD box set

Sure why not? some not-terribly-unreasonable wants:

Robert Ashley Automatic Writing (Lovely)-for the love of GOD will someone sell me this fucking record?! I'll pay you more than what it's worth. I slept on a $30 copy on Discogs a few months ago and have been kicking myself ever since.
David Tudor Rainforest IV (Edition Block/Gramavision)
Michael Snow Music for Piano, Whistling, Microphone and Tape Recorder (Chatham Square)-the most unreasonable, I'm aware.
Venom P. Stinger "Walking About" (Aberrant)
The Fall
   Totale's Turns (Rough Trade)
   Perverted By Language (Rough Trade)
   "Bingo Master's Breakout" (Step Forward)
"It's the New Thing"/"Various Time" (Step Forward)
   "Totally Wired" (Rough Trade)
"The Man Whose Head Expanded" (Rough Trade)

Also wouldn't mind paying anything less than three figures for the Morton Feldman//John Tilbury All Piano 4xCD box set or Tilbury's biography of Cardew, A Life Unfinished. Just throwing that out there.
