Mac demarco is what Adorno warned ov
100% true. He was critical about every modern artist since, lets say, Blind Blake.

His german liner notes for the Esoterics record from 81 made a lasting impression on 15year old dualyard. Here is my translation:
"Do you enjoy HUMAN LEAGUE or JOY DIVISION? Are you a fan of THE RESIDENTS and DAF? Admit it: you also admire a Jazz/Funk/New Wave hybrid? If your answer is yes, dont touch this record! Put it back in its place and fuck off. Immediately. The Esoterics dont want johnnycomelatelyhippies and pathetic intellectuels as part of their fanbase. Dont stare at me this way. Yes, Im talking about you. The Esoterics are not part of your gang of wannabee trendies. This record doesnt contain self righteous experiments and mysterious messages from art phags. If Eric Hysteric had a message he would use the post office. But definitely not for you. This record doesnt belong to your lifestyle. This is the real thing. Full blasting rock`n roll"
Sounds like Tim Warren doesnt it?
RIP Eric

Hey, if it's a success I'm sure someone like Soul Jazz will step in to do this properly in 10 years or so.
Soul Jazz? You must be joking. There are at least 20 termbo associated labels (InTheRed, SS, Siltbreeze, Last Laugh, Meanbean, UglyPop, Unwucht, Sing Sing, Rerun, ...) releasing great legit reissues of early 80s DIY/Punk stuff. And contacting the original artists has another mayor benefit: They own the master tapes and your record will sound the way it was originally intended.

Pretty sure Tom Lax mentioned some other records (or cassettes?) by Josef D'Angelo in his DSS post some years back(?) that I've never heard, or even seen on any file-share service.

These guys rocked the Eurovision Song Contest yesterday. Actually as good as Ratas Del Vaticano, at least for my ears:

Chrome Cranks (CBGBs, August 1992). One song on and I knew I had a new favourite band.
Laughing Hyenas (Gammelsdorf/Germany 1989). When I die my mind hopefully will trip back to this show. They were on fire like no band I ever saw before or after.
Scientists (2004, Ulm/Germany). Seven man were involved. Three people on and four people off stage. It was like a dream come true. It happened to be their warmup concert for ATP in the UK a few days after and they played a fantastic 120+ minutes greatest hits set.
Cows. German tour 1990. I travelled around 1000 miles to see them six times in a row. Then I ran out of money...
