Music Shit / Re: BIG'N Return of Chicago noise rock

Chicago noise rock.....that shit always sucked.

Chi city is in a drought right now all across the board in my opinion for the most part

Alps Alps of New South Wails LP: jeez, I just don't know about this one.  Late-night bedroom hoo-ha without any of the screwy elements that can make this sorta thing appealing.  I'll give it another pass to see if I missed something or needed my morning coffee to kick in or was in a feedtime mood and threw on the wrong record.

Wiretaps Recording LP: Gal-voxed punk too competent to be riot grrls, too garagey to be lumped with Kat Bjelland and her orbit.  Not bad.

that wiretaps record was alright.  it was the main dude from the Fallouts in that right....it was basically garage pop....maybe a little punk but nowhere near any riotgirl aspects

Non-Music Shit / Re: Osama bin Laden: DEAD

I find the false "professionalism" of the media in ascertaining exactly whether Bin Laden had an AK-47 in his hands when he was shot to be the height of absurdity. So, did Al Queda give the people in the World Trade Center a "sporting" chance to arm themselves before they drove those planes into the buildings? So, we're monsters now? After Iraq/Afghanistan/Guantanamo Bay we're morally deficient because we shot the world's leading suicidal nihilist in the head? We got our White Hats dirty a long long time ago, so spare us the hand-wringing over this. I assume the amped-up jocks we sent into that compound should have motioned towards the weapons caches, you know: "En garde, sir!"

No shit, we have ordered assasinations of people around the world since the 50s.....didn't we just try and "remove" Qaddafi recently...I think they killed one of his sons and some grandkids instead.

I honestly don't see why it's an issue if homie was armed or not.

BG&P is the last worthwhile record from them and that was 20 years ago(Sugarfix and Thank Heaven were ok)

Women In Prison 45-PUNK
People's Temple LP-really good, I've seen em and played with them over the last couple years and they kept getting better each time.  Good to hear a band mining 60s sounds without going the BLips/BFTG worship like a lot of young bands have been or were doing or falling into the pitfall of doing faux-psych.

As far as the D. Dogs go, the s/t, Big beef and We Three Kings are corny as hell but still great summer driving music...I don't care how fonzie they are.  Can't get into Saturday Night Fever...that was too over the top for me, I do like the EP they did on Empty from those sessions tho.

The People's Temple LP is pretty solid - but sometimes I feel like it's just BJM worship (even if Jonestown's a great band to worship)

there is some of that influence there but I wouldn't say it's worship or totally aping their style.
