Been listening to some Gary Glitter tracks, and I really dig the production. I've read some old issues of Bomp where Greg Shaw mistakenly refers to his music as dub or reggae (can't remember exactly which). I can see why, though those drums aren't double tracked, right -- he actually had two drummers?

I think it's overdubbed drums...a lot of producers used to do that(Chapman, Wainman)

also
Cooper-Killer-my personal fave
Cooper-Love It To Death-second fave
never really got into Billion Dollar Babies...it's good but it doesn't stack up to those two

T-Rex-Futuristic Dragon/Dandy in the Underworld...dude bounced back after the Light of Love/Zip Gun debacles...almost like mutant R&B
Twinkeyz
Red Planet-Let's Degenerate
Hollywood Brats-s/t...classic, so many hits
Prince-Dirty Mind...."When U Were Mine" and "Sister"...my picks to click...one of the only good records I scavenged from my parents's meager record collection besides another Rick James LP(don't remember which one..."Come and Get It" maybe)

agreed with Propaganda.  Kimono may have the hits but I definitely like Propaganda best as a start to finish album.  Big Beat is just not very good...the lyrics are not as witty...just kind of corny...music and production not up to snuff either.

Big Beat over Kimono?  Really...

Roxy took more chances musically...which is why many might say Bowie had more "great" songs...stuff like "Suffragette City" are pretty easily accessible.  If I was throwing a party, there would definitely be more Bowie tunes in tha mix for sure.

Also what is the definition of a great song?

Manzanera was a much better technical guitarist than Ronson, but Ronson was better as far as helping with writing songs.

Imagine a band with both of them...that would be pretty great.

SSR's right...it's a rock vs pop thing.  Although Bowie could rock out when he wanted to

Bowie has more "hits" but I feel Roxy was a more interesting group.  Roxy's music has more depth to it, Bowie's stuff is more pop/immediately accessible.

Still listen to both all the time.
