Non-Music Shit / Re: taking up skating in late 30s

Skateboarding is the greatest thing in the world. I'll be turning 31 in a couple weeks, and I still skate as often as I can. I'm probably more into now than I ever have been, and I've been doing it forever.

Tons of "older" people skate. Here's some inspiration for you: http://www.slapmagazine.com/component/option,com_jfusion/Itemid,4/index.php?topic=74338.1020

Non-Music Shit / Re: SMOKING WEED
« on: September 21, 2015, 06:56:54 PM »
I can't wait to move back to California and get a medical card, so I can just got to a store when I feel like it. Since I moved to a new city in west Texas I don't know anyone so it's pretty dry. I get severe insomnia and weed is the only thing that has ever worked for it. I don't really like smoking in the day, but come night time I'm ready to smoke and listen to some music and pass the fuck out. Have only gotten serious paranoia once, when I was already having amphetamine anxiety. I thought the weed might calm me down but it just threw me into a full panic attack that had me out in the middle of the street in my underwear, using parked cars as balance to keep me from falling over and going towards the light. Shit was weird.

Is there someone "cool" in Tenement that's making everyone like them? Or some sort of association? Because that band sounds like Hot Water Music or something equally as offensive. Somebody please explain this to me.

When searching for a name by which to describe this unique sound, Empty Heads have jokingly referred to themselves as ?brunch rock.? Wilson points out with a laugh, ?We?re the only brunch rock band in Calgary.?

I keep hearing the name Sheer Mag thrown around by punks and "hardcore kids". Finally listened to that "What You Want" song, and it just sounds like what the Oakland budget rockers were doing a few years ago. It isn't bad, but it's kind of bizarre hearing about them from people wearing steel toe boots and shaved heads. Will the punks be trading in their leather gloves and berets for denim jackets and striped shirts this quickly??

Now that I know Complete is playing, I'll have another reason besides the free food at the McDonald's showcase to leave my house.

Music Shit / Re: Best state for music?
« on: February 08, 2015, 05:48:34 AM »
I was just thinking the opposite few days ago: which state has the fewest (if none at all) "classic" (or modern) punk records. Alaska?

Wyoming, Montana, North/South Dakota, New Mexico. I'm probably wrong though. Only "classic" punk band I can think of from Colorado is Frantix.

Non-Music Shit / Re: GENTRIFICATION

Not sure if this counts as gentrification, but this photo is a bummer. It's been there for 25 years. Condos going up literally right next door. Apparently Burnside is protected as of now, but who knows how long that will last.
