The withering, unhealthy family tree of the bonehead, knuckle-dragged sound of Mayyors, A Frames, and Lake of Dracula grows another branch with the first long player by New York City?s Brandy. Consisting of components of miscreant avant-trash guitar acts Running and Pampers, this new project somehow straddles the line between futuristic and primitive. Rhythmic and repetitive with flashes of late-70s San Francisco post-punk psychedelia, dragging barely recognizable pop hooks through the debris of Mark E. Smith?s scotch glass shatter, the collection of songs march from front to end with a militant step and slurred, anthemic approach. Brandy makes me think it might actually be feasible to continue living and still, somehow, exist in New York. How can something this thuggish fill me with optimism?

Upcoming Shows/Tours/Events / New and very small venue in Kingston, NY

YO.
I'm opening a bar/venue in Kingston, NY. We aren't open yet, but I'm tentatively starting to book shows starting late Sept. Please hit me at cplump@gmail if you are interested. The room is very small (still waiting on our official capacity but 50 people in the room with the stage would be very fun), and I have no idea what kind of crowd exists so I think aiming for a weekday-low expectation turnout is realistic. Conveniently located between Montreal and NYC.

Presales are kind of annoying to me so to um spice it up we decided to go for a good deal type of sale.

I also just released a pretty weird record by Bill Converse (Dark Entries) and Sam De La Rosa (Led Er Est) called Samaritan Quell. That one is also $10 for a couple days.

One track for both LIE and Samaritan Quell are on the store page.

Thirdly and not $10 is one for the jazz bois out on Astral Spirits. A new one by Peter Brotzmann and Fred Lonberg-Holm.

This is a compilation of the three Poems With Water releases. Monofonus did volume three Clear and Lies in June on cassette last year for a US tour. Youve had to have gone pretty deep to own both Bard At Work and Get The Fucking Tories Out as they were on CDrs only available at live performances mostly in London. So some of these songs have been released by us on tape. This record combines great songs and also the more fucked parts of Ben's stuff. I love this release. Shipping July 25th.

Also Ben requested it to be on ugly jewel case CD as well so that is available too (along with some of the sold out releases of his we've done in years past).

Northside was nice enough to ask Monofonus /Astral Spirits to put a show together again this year. I'm pretty excited for this. The trio of Joe, Ged, and Tashi was just a passing thought but everyone went for it. I'm a huge fan of all three of them, but I have zero idea what it will sound like.

W-2 features Chris Welcome from Flying Luttenbachers, and this show is a release show.
lie are flying in from Vancouver, and they are great.
Soft Healer and Hidden Ritual are my two favorite non punk bands in Austin.

I'm flying up from Mexico to hang out, and I hope some of you make it out.
