Night Cleaner "Warrior" tape HAHA-11 available now:

"New tape on State Laughter (HAHA-11) from Matt Lambert aka Night Cleaner. Matt's been playing in his band All The Saints (last band to have a new release on Touch and Go) for over a decade...close to 2 decades. Night Cleaner exists on tape for a reason, its driving music. Music for the urban explorer that doesn't leave the throne mounted to his steering wheel. Except maybe to sit on the hood and brown bag a beer. This third tape of his is a little less dense sonically, giving the dubby inflections more room to echo. While much of this is the soundtrack to our drive around Atlanta, occasionally in-between radio station, and tae warble we land on pop gem hidden in the radio frequencies. Even including a Lindsey Buckingham cover (A2). As quickly as they pop up they revert back to motor hum stretched out just like the DJ Screw mixes that often provide matt navigation on his journeys. New realms for us as a label, but when you hack the carcass apart you see that the guts are the same. The whip is just candy painted as opposed to moving down hill on 3 wheels.

2 versions of this are available. One comes with the normal cover i designed printed on cardstock. The other is printed on an array of scavenged maps, advertisments, found paper, mostly that i rescued from Atlanta's abandoned Public Works building years ago. Maps that date back 70-80 years. Some grided with Atlanta's city streets, some blueprints for CSX and Norfolk Southern railways winding their way across the city. These are things I've cherished and lugged around with me for years. A few were decrepit to the point that i didn't feel bad cutting them up to print on. These are all one of a kind and when they are gone they are gone. Not sure how many i will do like this. While driving thru the city alone is one of Matt's pastimes, it felt appropriate for me to reflect that in the art. A cosmic gesture on one side, and a relic of the city to ground us on the other. Some of these streets may not even exist on the maps, and some may not exist anymore. Think of this as a soundtrack connecting these worlds. Thanks Matt."

Also get a distro update with a killer DVD of Slovenian film "Outsider" which is set in late 70's as punk was beginning and Yugoslavia was breaking up. Cool fan club edition from my friend Kevin Debroux. Also have some killer ex Yugo and Russian releases (Blind Seagull and Psihokratija) from Detriti Records (in the store but arriving Friday). Cool Indonesian psych comp thats extremely well curated by Now Again. First Dome LP (Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis from Wire), new Carla Dal Forno 7", reup on Robert Ashley's "Private Parts", Manuel Gottsching's first solo outing "Inventions for Electric Guitar" (Ash Ra Tempel), and the first Agitation Free solo LP. All in all some awesome and diverse stuff in this one.

Warm Red tapes still available, but going fast!

When a band Bryan Scherer plays actually releases something its a blessing. Not just because he starts a new band every other week that writes 5 great songs and then never plays a show let alone practices again, but he's also just a great songwriter. While keeping an identity all to his own, his playing is malleable and came seep in unnoticed into whatever manifestation he chooses. Warm Red is of the U-J3RK5/non New York "no wave" camp. Ben Wallers esque one note picking, but still with the faint aggression of Nurse. Tony's vocals really solidify the band as unique to their contemporaries. Teenage locker room huffer on expired helium. And the more i listen to the lyrics, the more i enjoy the sonically somewhat juvenile approach. It's a cloak and Tony is actually a savant playing a teenager on tv. "The Way Felt Feels" is a title i keep coming back to and thinking about. All of this would also be worthless without the well wounded coil that is the battery (semantically and physically). Drums and bass fill in the spacious gaps provided by their vocal/guitar cosmonauts counterparts. Tape is dubbed with the same program on each side...and you're supposed to let it run for at least a week at a time in your car. Stoked to be back on the map with another State Laughter release (next one comes out next week). Atlanta has a whole new class of disturbed youth that will soon be ready to display their wares, so keep peeling your eyes.

Out now on State Laughter.....next release is for Night Cleaner also form Atlanta...out next week. Distros and stores get in touch

Killer 8 song LP from new Atlanta band featuring folks from Mutual Jerk and Arbor Labor Union...Heavy beautiful music, all 4 members sing simaltaneously weaving in and out of harmony with each other. Consciousness of breath, patience, negative space....self proclaimed "Heavy Petal music" is very apt. Great record to start the year off with.

Also got some copies of Splattered Records reissue of Left Hand Drive's "Jailbait" 7" from 1977....killer punk NWOBHM 45.

Thats all for today!
