Boyhood
I liked it, and would go so far as to say that I liked it alot in so far as it is a study of the mundane. I'm not trying to be a contrarian but the unanimous praise this film is getting makes me both excited (a resurgence of cinema going masses? nah probably not) and a little uneasy. It was a worthwhile watch but there's no way that a three hour movie full of cultural references and what is essentially a grocery list of life experiences (First girlfriend, first beer, kids moving out shitty dad etc etc) wasn't going to strike obvious chords with audiences and that all seems a little cheap to me. Maybe I just can't accept that I like a movie like this so much but for now I'm going to hold on to my opinion that this a good albeit disposable movie that is drawing based on the form (which is novel, although not entirely original) over the content.
The Living Skeleton
Good short horror flick that was adequately described in the liner notes as relying on "shadows over shocks". A real anxiety inducing vibe throughout and it had a tendency to leave me in complete confusion about the next steps for the entirely run, always a plus in my books.
