I know nothing about this band. A friend recently gave me his spare copy of this 7" for looking after his records for a while. released in '91 on Feel Good All Over. Sounds like a mix of bailter space, chills & may be a little bit of snapper. It's nice to know that even as an NZ'er I can come across old shit that's totally new to me. I used to think I'd heard everything.

It's really obvious but really, Dan Deacon's "Wham City" is a pure wonder for dancing about.

I was super cynical about it as I'd heard his stuff but the Girl Talk show I went to a couple of weeks back was the most fun I've had in recent times. I was fucked up and danced like a buffoon for hours. crazy, crazy fun.

It's the Knife Fight from Wellington NZ, not LA. They're pretty much the best band in NZ so I'm really looking forward to that.
I saw the King Bros when they played here a couple of years ago and it was shit. Yeah they jump into the crowd and play in the crown etc and it's all "crazy" n shit but didn't change the fact that their mx of punk, soul and funk ended up sounding like The Red Hot Fucking Chilli Peppers to me.

Yes! next week I leave the house and my red room with record player. Black Lips are playing two shows in NZ next week. One in Wellington, one in Auckland. I'm going down to see them in Wellington on the Tuesday night then flying back to Auckland on Wednesday to see them again. I haven't been this excited about a show for a loooong time. I've been waiting a fair while for this band to make it down here.
The wonderful Knife Fight will open for them in Welly and the shitty King Brothers open in Auckland. Should be and awesome couple of days.

During one of my rare visits here some time ago I mentioned that The Terminals (NZ) were rumoured to be playing some shows. I'll be seeing them next Thursday. I'm fucking stoked.

Is that a whole Doublehappys album?

And let us know how The Terminals were.

So yeah, went to the show on Thursday night. First time they've played Auckland since '93. It was a fucking stunner! I had pretty low expectations, thinking they would be all old n' shit. They were old, there were a few gray hairs but they were still brilliant. I won't go through every track they played but they did do Black Creek as the oncore. I very nearly freaked the fuck out. Amazing. I got the new album but left in some chick's bag and haven't heard it yet.
