I just saw a really clean promo copy of the 1st Damnation of Adam Blessing Lp at Reckless on Milwaukee Ave, for about $24 I think it was, looks like there's a regular copy at the Loop location too:

http://www.reckless.com/index.php?keywords=damnation&format=&cond=&store=&is_search=true&srch=Search

While I'm at it, also looking for Damnation of/Adam Blessing (1st two lps) and Toe Fat (1st two lps) and Pink Fairies Never Never Land lp.

Cities / Re: Chicago

There's an authentic phonebooth (with huge city-wide phonebook) inside Odge's Hot Dogs just south of the corner of Chicago Ave & Damen, less than 100 yards from Permanent!

yo.  looking for a phone booth in the chicagoland area.  Not the London style booth that's red but rather the authentic American phone booth with four walls that superman used.

Anyone know of one?  Will travel far for known phone booth.  Thanks.

SO FUCKING GOOD! Didn't realize the early stuff has a female vocalist, hadn't heard any of that, it's great too.

But I was surprised there's still more stuff out there that wasn't compiled here, like this Alan Vega cover:

Hopefully a volume 2?

Since we've already got in some of the tracks and artwork, here's a rundown of ROUND 3's crop of talent:

SLUG GUTS (australia)

This abominably thick-sounding six-piece swamp-soaked ensemble has already done their damage with Sacred Bones and Stained Circles, so this deranged 4-track EP should keep your wounds nicely salted.

Check out the video for "Stranglin' You Too" from the upcoming Round 3 7" EP:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLk16svTsr8

SQUISH (usa)
Agitated atonal punk slop perfection from four Chicago gals bent on killing your babysitter and dumping formaldehyde all over your Angry Samoans and Ant-Scrunti Faction records.
Check out the ace "Shame Spiral" from their upcoming Round 3 debut 7" EP on the band's bandcamp page here:
http://squish.bandcamp.com/track/shame-spiral

DAN MELCHIOR (usa/uk)
Dan needs no introduction, and we've had plans to work with him on a record for years now, but never had the timing right, until now. Melchior's known for his inimitable mid-tempo deadpan post-punk poetry, and this 3-track EP shows him darting off the deep end, almost completely reinventing his sound with an unusual FLIPPER-esque heaviness, you just can't stop this one-of-a-kind songwriting machine!
Check out Dan's vast well of releases here: http://danmelchior.net/

NONES (usa)
Chicago's nocturnal nebula of Chrome-coated space rock/skronk, Nones is one of the city's most interesting creative combos, fronted by a blazed wildman alternating between desperate yelps and otherworldly sax bursts with true downer grooves sewn in deep into the sound. Truly our hometown's sonic decapitation specialists, and one band that's barely hanging on to the threads of life at each and every live appearance, which somehow still translates onto their debut 7" EP.
Check out "Space Load" from their self-released 7" here:
http://noneschicago.bandcamp.com/

CINDY SISTERS (chile)
Chances are if you haven't been following the wonderful noise emanating out of Santiago, Chile, South America's psych hotbed, you are missing out on some of this century's best underground music. Cindy Sisters are a sadly departed primal, scuzz-laden band of third-eye-seers who have blended the noise-pop rainbow into shards of blackened, heavenly distortion, oozing with insidious THROB. The band is gone but these recordings remain as their debut footnote in history, don't miss out!
Check out a clip of the A-side here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJIGmcTeIAE

HOMOSTUPIDS (usa)
Cleveland's rotten royaly have finally graced us with their long-promised record, recorded as rawly as humanly possible in NYC and blasted out as caterwaulingly craptacular as any of the other golden charms they've left in their path. Essential garbage for tomorrow's tweakers, today!
Massage their madness here: http://www.homostupids.blogspot.com/

MAKE-OVERS (south africa)
South Africa, huh? That's right, Make-Overs have burst through the foliage and dust to bring us their debut 7" release, brimming with sinister pummeling and frantic guitar scree all pumping over nasty vocals ensured to quickly bring your blood to a quick simmer. This two-piece is really unlike any others we've heard, and their incredible videos keep pushing the point even further to magnify their creative blasts.
Check out the video for their Round 3 A-side right here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6ZA_6Vud64

UV RACE (australia)
Aussie thug pop savant miracles of modern life. Living without them wouldn't be worth it. Features members of Total Control and Lower Plenty. check out their video for "Girl In My Bed" (from their recent In The Red LP, Homo):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGOk1PtYX3Q

STRAIGHT ARROWS (australia)
Yet another Australian band we just can't get enough of! Featuring Angela from Circle Pit as well, this band is a modern psych/punk pinnacle and if you don't believe it, just check out their incredible video for "Magic Sceptre" and "Something Happens" off their debut LP:

Yes! Individually printed personalized sleeves for all the Hookup Klub members was Brett's idea (who works at a variable print facility) and quite an undertaking but it looks to have worked out. It took a little while to get them all alphabetized but hopefully everyone got the correct sleeves, let us know if you didn't and we can send a replacement.

Thanks again to everyone that subscribed, Round 3 is gonna be great!

So I take it all the covers to the Super Wild Horses 7" that arrived today were custom printed to include the subscriber's name?  "A special thanks to ____ who made this record possible."  Weirded me out when I first saw it.

WAX IDOLS 'No Future' debut LP (HZR-094)
The San Francisco Bay area's most promising breakout, and formidable female-fronted pop wonders are not who you may already believe or expect. Lead by the enigmatically agitated Heather Fedewa (aka Hether Fortune, ex-Hunx & His Punx, Bare Wires, and also currently a member of CastleFace Records' Blasted Canyons), Wax Idols straddle the line between ripping tough/tender post-punk/goth-pop, and irresistibly anthemic indie rock hooks, somewhat like Joan Jett would sound like tearing through Best Coast with a chainsaw or if Mary Monday had been a member of Wire. Your curiosity may have already been piqued from their unabashed debut 7″ "All Too Human," released on Hozac earlier this year, but it's hard to imagine anyone being ready for an LP of this caliber, bursting at the seams with hits for all seasons, and effortlessly blurring the lines between viciously beautiful temperance and an unwavering, attitude-soaked attack on your comfort zone. With an arsenal of songs that range from chest-pounding melodic punk screamers, to tense-yet-tumultuous tracks of sadness overcome with bombastic pop precision, 'No Future' is one of the most impressive LPs we've had the pleasure of releasing, and one we're sure will go far. Fedewa's uniquely surly-yet-sultry voice has such an lasting impact, it seamlessly traces the gamut of human emotions back & forth from the unhinged heights to the inescapable doldrums, all tied up in perfect blasts of modern pop/post-punk subdued simplicity that are as upfront and immediate as any of of their legendary influences.

HEAVY TIMES 'Jacker' LP (HZR-095)
As Chicago's most lethal band of the fast-rising noise pop neurotics, Heavy Times have carved out a uniquely hypnotic sound that's hard to pin down but easy to fall for, and fast. Crushingly melodic vocal hooks cleverly interwoven with static-filled harmonies no one's prepared for, all executed with a snarling blow to the pleasure receptors. Their massive, almost cavernous grungy pop will escape most realistic comparisons, but as the scuzz starts to feverishly build and disseminate on each successive track of 'Jacker,' it becomes quickly evident that the songs that frame these livid bursts of punk energy are always worth waiting for. Once these mammoth choruses kick into gear, and just as the guitars explode, it's an endorphin-rushing experience that stands all hairs on end, and will knock you back unexpectedly. This is a band that carefully divides its power, bringing the hammer down right where it needs to hit, and locking into a euphonic wave of impossibly catchy, spidery guitar lines that soar and dive with the best of 'em so well, you'll swear you've heard these chords somewhere before. What's more is that Heavy Times have just as much of a hand on blasting your eardrums into oblivion as they do on their signature mega-melodic wall of vocals, washing like a golden glaze over each track with an enchantingly harmonic howl, that clearly defines their hyperactive Wipers-soaked sound to the core. East Coast Tour starts Monday!

RADAR EYES 'Miracle' b/w 'Me And My Dogs" 7" single (HZR-096)
Just another hidden gem known mainly to Chicagoans, Radar Eyes have taken the noise-pop sound previously notarized by The Ponys, Hot Machines and Headache City to dizzying new heights with their 7″ debut on Hozac last year, but as a live band, not many outside of the city are privvy to their massive stage presence. Soaring guitars and heavenly vocal interplay, all screaming along with such interstellar melody and power, you'd think they were on the brink of signing to Creation Records. They have been quietly building an explosive array of hits for the past few years, and now their incredible shine has become unavoidable as they crush together spacey noise with pop hooks so devastating, we just had to ask them to put out their debut LP, of which 'Miracle' is the first single, and one you won't soon forget. Transcendent pop like this only falls from the heavens every so often, so if you missed out on checking out Radar Eyes in the Hookup Klub, now's your chance to slip inside their web of heavenly hooks & feedback-fried, skull-splitting sound before the rest of the world catches up.

Need to pullout that Hollywood Stars again, haven't played it in ages. Damn you Kim Fowley!

Finally got a copy of Pretties for You for super cheap and I'm pretty shiocked at how good it is compared to how it usually gets panned or not even mentioned. Levity Ball obviously, but Reflected is way better than I imagined, great shit!
