Music Shit / Re: Static Party: Spoiled Brats

This is my favorite Spoiled Brats song...tried to get Shop Front to cover...

I lived in Seattle in the early 90s and the one "tour" my band Primate 5 did (aside from Portland a couple times) was to play SF @ The Purple Onion with Spoiled Brats, Rip Offs and our fellow Seattle-ites The Statics.  What a blast!!! Loved the Spoiled Brats!!!

Yet another Mike Sniper creation...I really cannot wait for this show. Spider Bags are one of my favorite bands, and dying to see Goodnight Loving...

I'm surprised no one responded...so I will to bump it back up top.  Can't wait for the print version...(and SS gave a good review to my band online, he said knowingly)

TB should do the updated reviews page monthly too - simple and sweet...just a page with reviews...

Folks,

DOT DASH CMJ Showcase

THE COYDOGS (NYC)
SPIDER BAGS (Chapel Hill, Birdman Records)
THE GOODNIGHT LOVING (Milwaukee, Dusty Medical Records)
at Magnetic Field - 97 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn)
Doors 8PM
$7 cover

This will be one helluva show, folks...do not miss. A perfect bill of American rocknroll circa 1973!

THE COYDOGS - This NYC trio takes their cues from the
early 70s fusion of Southern Blues and Country
RocknRoll. Influences range from Gram Parsons and
later Byrds to The Band. The mature playing and
excellent singer-songwriter comes through from these
seasoned local players - real rocknroll.

SPIDER BAGS - Chapel Hill, NC via New Jersey
country-tinged rocknroll with hard-living emotions.
The band has a passion and soul that would sit well
beside Crazy Horse. "Spider Bags are a country-rock
band with a whole album's worth of songs about being a
no-good pissed-off drunk motherf**cker." -
www.trianglerock.com. Their debut full length, "A
Celebration Of Hunger" will be released in early 2007
on Birdman Records.

THE GOODNIGHT LOVING - Milwaukee, Wisconsin roots
rocknroll. This band has all the hooks, clever lyrics
and spirit of the best country-tinged garage
rocknroll. Their debut full length, "Cemetery Trails"
was produced by Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound, The
Oblivians); it is out on CD/LP from Dusty Medical
Records. "Perfect Byrds-esque soaring pop, as good as
anything the Reigning Sound has done. No wonder Greg
Cartwright produced 'em... there's country, slide,
mandolin, washboard, passing freight trains all thrown
in..." (Eric Friedl, Goner Records).

Electric Eels "Splittery Splat"

My band used to cover this in rehearsals...before we started playing shows...I wish we would have played it out at some point...one of my favorite Eels tunes...

v/a  BIPPP - French Synthwave 1979-84 comp on Born Bad. The song "Polaroid Roman Photo" by Ruth is making my head spin and I can't get enough.

There is a whole CD reissue of the band Ruth.  Great stuff.  Synth wave stuff, but dark and not cheesy.  Same guy, the guitar player/leader of the band had a bizarre mid-70s electronic project called Illitch - very cool, reminds me a bit of Terry Riley, Fripp/Eno, drone, psychedelic guitars, loops, etc.  He still plays/records in the avant garde, free jazz scenes...the name escapes me....

You guys are fucking tripping acting like A. Duul II's 'Yeti' isn't one of the greatest heavy rock records ever. Really, y'all should be ashamed.

I am so with you on this!  Yeti is their best for sure...I threw my back out a few months back and had to lay in bed all day...listened to this, Parsons Sound, Trad Gros...totally heavy, man....
