I love the  Hermann Nitsch stuff, but it is kinda varied. I saw a video performance and talk he gave on his "6-Day Play" Performance - it was a crazy ritualistic piece he did at an Austrian castle over 6-days...pretty wild.  At same event, Jonas Mekas showed a video diarypiece of one of Nitsch's visits to NYC.  They went shopping in the Hassidic neighborhood in S. Williamsburg looking for black hats to add to Nitsch's signature hat collection.

Also, LOVE Charlemagne Palestine.  Quite an odd character and one of the pillars of the drone in my book.

This stuff is not casual listening, but can be very hypnotic when you're in the mood...

I dunno why, burnout maybe but I haven't really listened to Coltrane much in the past six years or so, but that was almost all I listened to for a while. The man was a fucking God among men.

I'm in the same boat, haven't listened to him in several years, but he is my all time favorite recording artist - EVER!  I think I burned out too...I still have all the vinyl though, about 60 records!!  that live footage he did for tv is amazing, I watched it so much that I wore out my video...

John Coltrane's "Alabama" - not a "song" (no words), but he wrote it after the 4 schoolgirls died in one of the church bombings in Alabama. The music is incredibly mournful and inspirational at the same time:

I had the first single for a long time, liked it...wanted to like it more though and then I had them on the list to check out the records and didn't get around to checking out until a few months ago...LOVE both records and I would have to agree one of the best current bands going.  Love the psych aspects, proto-punk aspects, Syd, etc...you hear the influences, but they use them to make completely original music that is theirs - never seen them live, would really like to
