Ohhh jeeeeez.

Clint, what ruins the scene more, people having kids or people comparing the lack of success of Termbo bands to Karl Marx's funeral?

Is the "filler" of message boards you refer to when you were throwing around Thomas Neill quotes?

Like Aaron said, I'm sure you're a great guy or whatever, but shit, man, you're pissing on Richie's mainframe.

The main, huge, glaring, lit up in fucking neon lights, logical flaw which I did point out is that you never take into account that some people change their priorities as they get older and shift or expand their interest into other areas of the world. Sometimes for the worse but more often for the best...if everything revolves around drinking/shows/records/whathaveyou then it might not make sense to you but if you start to appreciate things that exist wholly outside of that realm then whats the harm???

Like I have plenty of friends who never go to shows, have no idea who any of these bands are that you or I or anyone else who has an abnormally rabid interest in underground/obscure music and actively searches it out, work straight jobs in advertising or law firms or film production or whatever....I mean they are some of the cooler people I know. And yeah quite a few are married, some even with kids on the way.

And there are plenty of people in bands - both large and small - with wives and kids and all that stuff who still manage to balance out all this stuff. It's not black and white buddy.

wow. having a bad day clint?

Nope, not at all.  I asked GoZac to point out all the glaring logical flaws in my argument.   You then responded by pasting sentences where I was stating personal opinion, which is an aesthetic matter.  Aesthetics, even in best case scenarios, barely have anything to do with logic.  To a large degree, these things are a matter of taste.  I then pointed out that your post seemed to be ignorant of the whole concept of "logic".

Hey Clint, not shit talkin, but i got some logic for ya since you did ask for people to bring up any flaws:

what do you care about people contributing to a "scene" for if their contributions dont have to be appreciated "in this lifetime".

The problem with yer argument is that playing in a band doesn't really contribute anything.  I like music as much as you but damn you act like someone choosing not to play in some crummy band is depriving Earth of some great resource.

Fuck the community, live yer own life the way you want.   I like Rapid Adapter but in 5 years who will give a fuck.  So what are these contributions to the scene?  Another piece of plastic that will get sold and resold on Ebay or some record store somewhere.

This is starting to sound like some MRR scene bullshit rah rah talk.

Thanks, I remember the Thomas Neill quote.

I remember the context too.

What I can't remember is why the fuck you quoted Thomas Neill without a shadow of a tongue in your cheek in a thread about (assuming from what you were saying) Jay Reatard and/or Black Lips on a message board called Terminal Boredom.

You're arguing the foundations of logic on a board where a thread becomes monopolized by a discussion about the merits of Street Fighter 2.

Basically, it looks like you're trying to throw some intellectual weight around and it's coming off (to me) as really pedantic and sleazy.

But, like I said, you know, I'd probably drink a beer and talk music with you or whatever...

Just relax, mannnnn..

Just go back a page:

If having kids equals people contributing to the community less, which it usually does, then clearly that's more destructive to the "scene".  Furthermore, people who can't understand a simple example of "Greatness does not always equal success in your own life time" is pretty disruptive to things as well.

No, that's Thomas Neill quote is great and applies to 90% of the people that post on here.

"Of those who say nothing, few are silent." -  Thomas Neill

Yes, because Termbo is such a font of intellegent, thought provoking discource.

Also, I like the people that can't see the distinction between trying to make some conversation and people that go their whole lives without even attempting to make a contribution to things.
