I was just following that one too... almost out of my chair when I saw the ending price. Funny thing is, I was the underbidder of a copy this summer: $33. Guess I shoulda splurged and bid $50+, huh? Ummm, anybody got a copy for trade?

Perfect example of ebay's lame "bidder protection" policy. I don't know what's worse, whoever bid $377.77, or the high bidder's ridiculously exorbitant bid on a record that came out a few years ago.

Funniest (or least funny) thing about that auction: THE RECORD SUCKS.

I know why Ebay hides the bidder names now. So morons like this won't be embarassed to throw down some serious cash on horrific records.

If it costs $382, and it had a ton of bidders on it until they hid them at the end, then it MUST be the best garage rock 45 of the last 5 years...at least since the White Stripes 7" on Sub Pop, which goes for the same amount at times. Right?

What's the most an Oblivians 45 has gone for? I think I saw a Compulsive Gamblers go for $150 one time. Obviously the Ghetto Ways blow those HACKS away! Yeah!

Seriously though, I just listened to this on their website and I think it's a good record, but far from a great record. I like their other 45s better. Cool cover and severely limited number would drive me to a "reasonable" high price (i.e., the $33 I bid and lost last time it was on ebay). This is just plain stupid.

Seems like ebay hides the bidders after an auction ends at a certain amount... Up until the end you could still see everybody who was bidding. Anybody know what the dollar cap is??

Yeah, it's $200. I dug out the page on ebay's annoucements about it, via google.

As an occasional SELLER I think it's poo, some early bidders drive the market on alot of obscuros, especially the 90s stuff, and searching for them means higher $$ for me in the end. bah.

As a bidder, it means I've draped myself over the diligent searching work of others, to their detriment, for the last time. I think kbd punk will still go for dough if its listed right, but the vaguely powerpop/indie/weird stuff from 76-84 is gonna go down a bit.

There HAS to be a better way of preventing the spoof mails than this. I think ebay wanted to eliminate the sub-bay offers to 2nd bidders that they got no % of, and they figger that any $ they loose in dumping the bidder search will be made up for THEM on their increased take on legit 2nd chance offers. bah.
