The argument that there is always going to be something popular that's worse than whatever band people are hating on is moot.  I don't think it is jealousy-based with a lot of these people.  The people I know that hate Wavves hate it because of who Nathan Williams is as a person.  These same people wish him the best so he'll make money and move away.

In interviews I've seen him rant about people being jealous of his hype and that it's created some sort of backlash.  But like I said, the majority of the people I know  dislike him based off how he treats people and his attitude in general.  I literally stopped going out for a while because every circle of conversation at some point turned to a Nate Wavves bashing session with people reciting their favorite NW quotes which sum up their view on his character.

Is dude a good guy?  Not entirely.  Do I wish him the best?  Absolutely.

id like to be in a band that got hugely popular but only with the toughest dudes and skankiest women.  those shows would be fun.  shows should be more like the prize fight scene in escape from ny.

At first thought I don't think I should, but then I realize he says this stuff to just about anybody that will listen so I think it's shit he stands behind and wouldn't be offended if someone shared it.

My personal favorite is the one about how people invite him to guest DJ so they can watch what he plays, write it down and go out and buy it.  "People" being successful DJ's in the San Diego area who live off the nights they book in clubs.

The stuff I think would truly hurt his character I'll keep to myself.  My NW hating lasted about a month and I'm really trying to just hope for the best for him and really anybody doing music out of this area.

I've been loosely following the "six month" rule Aaron just mentioned, and I've bought maybe two or three new releases in the past year.  I've saved a lot of money this way, and can now focus my disappoint on other areas of life, like work and socializing.

It must be nothing more than jealousy that frustrates me when a friend has multiple albums scheduled for release shortly after picking up an instrument for the first time (even though I'm one of this friend's biggest fans). It must be jealousy when I feel frustrated when a friend's cockiness has transformed from something kinda cute and endearing into something that spoiled and fucked up. It must be jealousy when friends get annoyed with hearing other friends talk about their guarantees all the fucking time.

Also, if you disagree with people's values and talk about that, that means that music is unimportant to you.

It's hilarious that somebody who came to the game so late is claiming to have invented all this stuff. At least the guy from Wavves has the good sense to stay off the internet.

Hard for me to stay off the internet, since I invented it and everything.

By the way, this board was a whole lot cooler when it was a relatively small group of us on here shooting the shit before faggots like you started showing up. Also, you're deluded if you believe Wavves isn't reading everything on this board like everyone else in the world.

I'd stop posting on here and making a complete ass of myself all the time, except that'd be selling out.

I pine for the days when Paul Reject ran this place and Eric Lastname still went by Eric Lastname and BBQ was the only extra consonant one man band around.
