I dont know if he will be big in 09 but, he was definitely the best show that I have seen all year. the jams are so smooth, and there is a hint of sarcasm with all of his stuff. I can understand why people dont dig it though. It can be pretty cheesy but, I think thats the point. the guy is pretty insane as well. I got money on kurt vile as big in 09.

I think some of the shit is truly great for that reason.  There's lots to make fun of about "seriousness" frankly.  Especially if you embrace nihilism (hell, even if you appreciate it at a distance).  Absurdity can always be put to great use.  It will ALWAYS challenge those who love to order their universes neatly.  That's why there's no room for "copycat wierd".  That can be ordered easily in people's heads.  How do you classify this retarded shit?  That's the beauty I think.  I don't have any of his albums, but if he makes me do triple takes and starts people off in polar opposite corners, I can tell you right there the nigga is onto a stride.
