I would love nothing more than to see Tai Thai burn the fuck down.

Ah, yes.  I forgot how horrible this place is, good call.  I make thai food at home 1000x better than this.

That place is seriously theeee worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. Granted you are not paying much bust still there is a modicum of politeness expected that just isn't there. The food is a C grade approximation on the whole...whatever it's like McDonalds curry.

Actually I'm friends with a couple of the waitresses there.  No problem with service, food just SUCKS.

we could spend 28 pages discussing how bad restaurant service is in williamsburg/nyc...

my picks for the worst right now are...

chai (where they didn't understand that me and my dining companion wanted our meals at the same time)
la superior (where we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant and they couldn't remember everything in our 3 item order)
williamsburger (just. order. takeout. do. not. go. there.)

on a good note - we liked boneshakers. maybe it was the midwestern/syracuse college town vegan sxe feel of it. very non-new york. even dare I say non-2000s. I kept having earth crisis lyrics run through my head while I ate there.

i'm still trying to figure out if these are my mind-altered vegan dining experiences or semi-objective truths.

Are you still vegan?  I will seriously have to adjust your assessment of restaurants based on this.

No. Not at all.

you called the song... a vegan friend used to sing it constantly in college.

Both St. Helens and Matamoros were favorites. St. Helens/Cafe 1980 also had that great koi pond in the back.

I could sit by that Koi pond listening to "Firestorm" on my iBook while reading Kierkegaard for hours.

Weren't the Pies & Thighs people going to reopen somewhere else at some point? I remember reading something with them that they were looking for a new space but then nothing really materialized. One of the only redeeming things about shows over at Rockstar Bar/Rocky's/Ship's Mast/whatever it's called.

Shit I need to join that gym. That dude is ripped.

Livefastdie played some Saturday afternoon thing there a few years ago with like 12 bands and i would have left after we played but the entire affair was catered by Pies & Thighs with free food for the bands so instead I just ate fried chicken for the next 6 hours. That was some damn good chicken.

Thoughts on Fette Sau???

Also the brats at Radegast are pretty solid. Had a venison sausage the last time i was there and it was A+. If you are there on a dead night that place is amazing.

Fette Sau - Huge fan of the place. The bare brick aesthetics and meat served by the pound on butcher paper are charming and the food ain't no joke either. The pork shoulder melts when you bite into it. The sides are all cooked with generous helpings of bacon grease if not bacon itself and the whole place lends itself well to large groups. Also you can buy a gallon of beer in a giant glass jug. Were I not hitting the gym everyday in an attempt to get back to fighting weight I'd eat there a hell of a lot more.
