I've never been there (the only meat I eat is fish so there wouldn't be anything for me to eat) but Kevin LOVES that place.

I had the worst Angus Third Pounder ever at the McDonalds near Silent Barn. Now that is a restaurant to avoid. Horrible by McDonalds standards is pretty fucking bad.

I generally don't eat McDonalds unless I am super hungover or in a hurry to get somewhere but if it as happy as you say it is i may have to swing through. It's about goddamned time they put the "HAPPY" back in Happy Meal.

couples make googly eyes at each other over fries & families laugh together kind of happy.

warning though: weekend nights it becomes club exit overflow - couples hooking up in the booths kinda happy.

il bagato: everything here is good especially the bolognese. (2nd btwn 1st & a in manhattan)
noodle pudding: best ravioli.  my godfather and former babysitter own it. (bottom of henry behind brooklyn court house, right by cadman plaza)
noho star: good drinks.  good burger.  hot waitresses. (lafayette & bleecker)
indochine: been here a buncha times.  french/vietnamese.  also good drinks.  also had a hot drink waitress once who was very sociable.
banjara: best indian ive had in manhattan.  cleanest place too.  no christmas lights.  not dark as fuck in a weird way like mitali.
joe's shanghai: ive only been to the chinatown one.  soup dumplings.
dominick's on arthur ave in the bronx: no menu. no bill.  gigantic plates of delicious food.  you pay what they tell you.
riverside cafe: over my short time here on earth i have had the luck of entering this establishment several times.  i considered myself astoundingly lucky every time. i went to a wedding here and i asked the waiter for a beer and he brought me a single brooklyn ale on a silver tray.

a couple good ones in jersey:
napoli - fort lee
oceano's - fair lawn
la hacienda - paterson
catherine lombardi's - new brunswick
je's - newark
sol mar - newark
laico's - jersey city

thats all i could think of off the top of my head.  i wanna do a jersey food tour one day.  fried bacon wrapped hot dogs, deep fried pickles, plus pizzatown usa.  and pork roll.

Sarim, you are very well travelled if you know Laico's, wow.  This is the best old school Italian in JC, mid-block on a totally anonymous residential street.  The valet parking is especially odd.

The best Manhattan-style hipster restaurant in JC is Ox, which is run by some former Marco & Pepe chefs:

My Newark pick is Seabra's Marisqueria (http://www.njdiningguide.com/seabras.html).  It seems every person in Northern NJ has their own favorite Portuguese restaurant in the Ironbound.  I think as long as you avoid the really obvious ones like Fornos, you'll do fine.

We like to take out-of-towners to Union City (it's borderline Weehawken) for Turkish:

For dim sum, go to Silver Pond in Fort Lee.

Soup dumplings are my favorite food of all time, I gotta go to that place, I think I copied down the address once but then never want. I wanna go to all those NJ places, I've never been anywhere.

Fette Sau - Huge fan of the place. The bare brick aesthetics and meat served by the pound on butcher paper are charming and the food ain't no joke either. The pork shoulder melts when you bite into it. The sides are all cooked with generous helpings of bacon grease if not bacon itself and the whole place lends itself well to large groups. Also you can buy a gallon of beer in a giant glass jug. Were I not hitting the gym everyday in an attempt to get back to fighting weight I'd eat there a hell of a lot more.
Aaron, let's do lunch here.
