OK duders help me out.  My aunt is coming to visit me for her 60th birthday. I'm trying to figure out where I should take her for dinner and then maybe drinks.

somewhere nice, could be a little spendy ... but nothing outrageous. Park Slope/Carroll Gardens etc preferred. In terms of cocktails I'm thinking of some place like the Clover Club, but I'm very open to hearing suggestions.  She likes fancy pants drinks, and that's one of the only places I can think of that specializes in that sort of thing.

also, where else do you take out of town guests? ( we already have plans for grimaldi's)

Help please!!
no one's having fun but me

Anybody trying anything for Dine in Brooklyn?  Every year I say I'm going to try the River Cafe but I forget to make a reservation.  I'm gonna try Blue Ribbon on Thursday but little apprehensive as they don't take reservations.

I think the event is pretty weak. Zenkichi (and to a lesser extent Bamontes) is the North Brooklyn pick. The Boro Park/Midwood/Flatbush Glatt  places tend to be pretty expensive so this is good deal if you have any interest in checkin them out.

I don't think it's so bad, though I guess it depends on the restaurant.  What's on Zenkichi's menu?  I can't imagine them offering much more than 3 wasabi peas at that price.

Just noticed the Glatt places in Borough Park this year... interesting, but not really my thing.

zenkichi does a tasting menu. It's a solid deal.

Don't they always have a tasting menu?  If I recall correctly t was like $100 for 5 courses?  If they're serving the same things then yes, 3 courses for $25 would be a good DIB deal.

Have you been to Blue Ribbon?  I never have - looking forward to it!

One of my top burger places is right next to Blue Ribbon. Bonnie's. Shit is pretty fucking real. The wings there are no joke either.

Is that the place that has a long bar/counter?  Vague description, I know but that's all I'm coming up with.  If so I ate there a few months ago and yeah, had an amazing blue cheese stuffed burger.

I ate some E after my burger.  Thought it wasnt doing anything so I started drinking, ended up puking out that burger all over the pleasant streets of park slope.  I'd definitely go back and do it all again.

I stand corrected - never been to Bonnies, the place I was thinking of was Flipsters on 7th Ave.  http://brooklynflipsters.com/

Wait was too long at Blue Ribbon, went to Colombian place further down 5th Ave right next to Southpaw.  There's a new Colombian place by my house I've been eating at a lot.  This place was a lot fancier and definitely higher quality but man the place in Jersey City I can get a picadillo for $15 that I'll be eating leftovers of for days.

What's this?  Something on West Side Ave?

Yeah, West Side right before Communipaw.  I used the wrong name for the dish I had, though - It's called a Picada.  Normally served in 2 person portions, I requested for one and it still lasted several days.

Have you ever tried either Irma's Restaurant or Flavor of Caribbean on Communipaw?
